The Witcher 2 brought me to this video. Iorveth plays a few notes from this song on his recorder. Had no idea that it was originally a Christian chant sung in Latin. Absolutely beautiful music.

If you find flute players in Witcher 3 you'll often find them playing Palästinalied, another famous medieval song, was riding through Beauclair one day and I had to stop for a second when I heard it.

It shoukdn't be sad at all. I think this issomething depending on the version interpretation or on the performance. But it should be brilliant and shining, cause is dedicated to the black Virgin of Montserrat, called Moreneta, and it was a dance for the pilgrims in order to keep them busy or entertained, dancing religious non profan songs beside the Monastery.

"Locked Within The Crystal Ball" by Blackmore's Night brought me here. This is quite good!

Latin. It's a hymn to Our Lady of Montserrat (literally, the jagged mountain - and the name fits)! I translate the chorus as "Star shining like the sunlight upon the mountain high/ Thy jagged hill of wonders, O hear thy people's cry." Not perfectly literal but pretty darn close. The miraculous statue at Montserrat has been a pilgrimage destination for a long long time, and this medieval hymn is from the collection of the pilgrimage songs that's kept there: the Llibre Vermell de Montserrat, or Red Book.

This chant was often sung by pilgrims back then, was it not?

Adonay Rocha in medieval times they used ancient Greece's musical scales, and Greek culture was full of influences from all countries such as Egypt or China. So, yes maybe this song may sound like an Asian melody!

The song speaks about the equality and a fair chance for everyone to reach their destination. And then it's used by Iorveth, one of the biggest racist scums in Witcher series. Nicely played, CD Projekt Red.
