I truly feel like Chad is the epitome of what it means to be a role model. Talent, skill, hardwork, knowledge, humility, entrepreneurship, and charisma. As a younger player, I feel like he is someone that anyone can look up to. 👑

Here's the deal.. I've been studying for a very long time, but I still can't get to the level of free solo. At least one single one. And Chad has already changed a lot of styles and mastered a lot of new styles. Although I 4 years ago I also had a collection of phrases at a pace of 180 beats per minute, fast passages.. How to learn it and make it) eh)).....

The overhead mics on the drums are too high up. That makes the drumsound lacking presence. Also check the phase between overheads and snare, the snare sounds thin, has no body. Other than that great as always. 😇

Thanks for the feedback! 😊 The drum sound was almost entirely from the room mic for this mix, no overheads. It came down to wanting more natural room sound without the drums overpowering the mix.

Ok, got it. That‘s why the drums sound very diffused. I would use the mics that you have set up. The sound would probably be a lot better. The drummer plays soft enough, I don‘t see a problem of him being overpowering. The mixture between direct signals (sax, bass, guitar) and room signals sounds strange. It also makes the rhythm section seem not as tight, because you cannot hear the ping of the cymbals in context with the bass. By using the drum mics you don‘t make the drums louder, just more present/clear. Using the room sound for drums makes sense, if the room sounds really great, which is unfortunately not the case with this room.

@@noahavary6157 erhhrmmm as a random drummer on the internet, I wholeheartedly agree with the decision to use more room for this kind of recording. I HHHHHATE super pristine, clear drum sounds for swangin', it makes it sound artificial and contrived and kills the 'session' vibe. I dig the sounds, it feels warm to me!
