    I was looking all over the net to try and figure out what machine my neighbor up the road was using on his large lawn. The humorous part about this, is the noise it makes. I was working outside, and kept wondering why my neighbor, who has really nice stuff and takes care of it, didn't oil or grease that poor squeaking machine!! :D EXACTLY the same noise! So isn't there a way to quiet it down? It seems like an awesome sweeper, but the squeeking would drive me nuts!

    About how much do these run new? I’ve looked online and everywhere says “Call for price”. That’s how you KNOW they want too much for their stuff. Lol. If I wanted to “call for price” I wouldn’t be searching for a price online! How and where did you find a used one? The only used on I saw sold at a Sheriff’s sale in Dandridge, TN last year. Thanks for the video. You made me want one of these! Is it always squeaky like that? Anyway to quiet it down some?

    Thank you for your videos of the Steiner sweeper. I find them very useful. I am considering buying one.... I'm wondering how it works with matted down leaves, pine needles and small twigs in the spring after winter? Any insight would be greatly appreciated! Thank you.

    I was planning on doing a leaf video again this season. Unfortunately I was busy at work And the winter came very early this year. Once I finally had a chance to sweep leaves it snowed. I am planning to find move time to produce move videos on my channel next year. My goal is to do lots more with this sweeper. I will try to test it on pine needles, And I am definitely going to try this with leaves, wet And dry. Glad they helped should post more next year.

    @@mikeflorio8204 I was told by the previous owner it did pick up pine needles, But I am not convinced it will pack them. That is going to be my next test. The matter down leaves is another good one. I don't h as ve lots of trees in my lawn, But I do have some leaves yet. If I get some time I might try wet compacted leaves yet this year to see if it can pick them up.

    @@steiger256 Thank-you for the info. From what I gather you are very happy with your sweeper. I am in the process of looking at a used one that is in good condition. Likely going to buy it and test it out on the pine needles and matted down leaves. If it doesn't work that well I will sell it. I don't think I should have trouble selling it? Seems like you are very happy with yours and the job it does? Seems like it packs lots into the unit and does a good job sweeping. Is the lawn very clean in the spots the sweeper runs over? If some grass is very matted down, do you have to pull the sweeper over that area more than once? As you can tell I'm kind of on the fence about the unit.... And looking for some info to steer me one way (buy it) or the other (pass)... Likely picking up the unit next Tuesday if I buy it. Thank you.

  • @steiger256

    Small twigs are not a problem, But it is best to avoid them if you can. Anything larger than a pensil could make it jam. I have ran over walnuts and it will chew them up, But if you get 6 or more in there at one time it will jam. It will not hurt anything, just make the wheels slide then you have to stop and remove the obstruction. I usually just try to avoid debre if I can tho.

    BO KNOWS Home Services , LLC It will sweep up pine needles, But not sure how it would handle large amounts of pinecones? I think if they were pinecones from say a white pine it should be ok. I think the worst that would happen is it would jam the packer And slide the wheels. I do not think it was designed for pinecones, But it is built pretty tough.

    The sweep width is only 40 inches, which is grossly inadequate and ridiculous if they cost in the thou$ands as someone has commented. Great design and obviously very functional but absurdly narrow. They should be at least 60" wide.

  • @steiger256

    @steiger256

    4 жыл бұрын

    I agree I wish it was at least 54 inches, But with the wheels on the side it would probably make it really wide. Only thing I can think is when it is pull it in a offset 40 inches is probably wide enough to pick up grass with side discharge. Plus it gets pretty heavy when full, So any bigger would maybe be a issue. I agree tho there are times I wish it was wider.

    How can it push UP the material into the bin? Doesn’t hold much...

  • @steiger256

    @steiger256

    4 жыл бұрын

    The first video I made of it explains a little on how it works. It sweeps the material in from the front and there are several metal fingers that shove the material thru slots. Then it just keeps moving the material up from the bottom. When the material reaches the top of the bin it just starts packing it in. It really works well for grass. I used to have to sweep then dump into piles in the lawn. Then later on with a wagon go pick up the piles. This sweeper has really made raking grass easy. I used to hate sweeping the lawn, Now I sorta look forward to it. Thanks for watching

    Bone dry grass. Does it work in the wet?

  • @steiger256

    @steiger256

    3 жыл бұрын

    I have used it on wet grass. It does work with wet grass, But the only thing with wet grass is the weight. When you sweep wet grass or freshly cut that has a high moisture content like in spring time the weight of the grass is much higher. While sweeping wet grass it packs much harder. With wet grass and the density that it packs you have to go dump more often. I have found that the best option is to let the grass dry out. When dry you can collect much more before having to unload. Just like cutting a lawn. You can cut a wet lawn, But it is better to cut it dry. The same applies when using the sweeper. I have used it both ways, dry definitely makes the job easier.

    No. They can be towed behind anything. ATV, lawn tractor, golf cart ect. I wasent going real fast in the video But the manual says A top speed of 10 MPH. I have been using it behind A old Cadet 782D. I will post videos later in leaves And I'll get it up to 10 with another tractor. 430 top speed is 8.5. But then again even 8.5 is pretty fast for collecting leaves And grass.

    Sounds good, i like it, looks like its practically the best thing for collecting vegetation/trash, my problem is im looking for something that would work well for collecting and hauling away sand and gravel from lawns and hard surfaces. Idk if a typical leaf/lawn sweeper would accomplish that or not, im afraid the bottom wouldnt support the weight of the sand. Almost need a vacuum truck lol but thats too expensive!
