    best scene and one of the best movies ever , made in 1999.... - Matt Damon, Jude Law and Stefania Rocca interpretations are just MAGNIFICENT !! brilliant movie

    I watch horror movies pretty regular... this movie scares the shit out of me. More than any horror. Matt Damon is so sickeningly creepy. The ominous build-up to the climactic scenes on the scooner with Dickie or with Marge are haunting.

    Dickie is just a good-time boy with a gregarious nature. I can understand Tom's misinterpretation but it's when he starts to expect things from Dickie that things go wrong. For Dickie it's holiday fun ... which will come to an end. After all Tom lied that he was "just passing through" when they first met.

    I thought Dickie had narcissistic traits and features. Tom was very sympathetic. He seemed to genuinely love Dickie in an unrequited way. Well, as much as Tom could genuinely love beyond himself …

    Nah. I think it's a kind of childish sadness. When confronted by the fact that life isn't all brunch and jazz, he lashes out and blames the world. It reminds me of how Peter Pan gets upset.

    Such a powerful scene, it revealed the depths of Dickie’s soul: entitled, childish and wholly unable to accept his blame in the way he played with people’s lives. Jude Law’s acting is great, I hated his pretty face so much 😅

    In the movie Dickie Greenleaf is portrayed less likeable than in the novel, perhaps to make Tom Ripley look more likeable. Not a good idea.

    Everything about the movie is great except Matt Damon who is fantastic in his element wasn't meant to play a gay psycho and the movie lost 50% of its punch after Jude Law left us.

    Because she's heart broken. She's in love with dickie, she's carrying his child and she knows she can never be part of his world, as symbolised when she sees him on the boat and knows she can never be on it. And in that way she shares a lot with Tom. They are both seduced by Dickie and his opulent life style.
