He ALWAYS put himself in the way just so he could save damon from his impulsive actions, and thats clear on the earlier seasons. When he goes with Klaus i think its the breaking point, because things turn around and then Damon starts doing the same for Stefan

Stefan felt guilty the entire time about convincing Damon to complete his transition to become a vampire; he felt like he owed it to him. So what he did in the last episode was not surprising to me, but it was painful to watch him die like that. :/ The ending was heart-breakingly and beautifully made and I still haven’t recovered from the entire show yet regardless of how many times I’ve watched it and how many years have gone by. This show is a masterpiece ❤

Damn Stefan sacrificed himself so that Damon could live a human life with Elena and become a better version of himself, Stefan wanted Elena to get to know the real Damon the Damon that enlisted in the war to please his father

Their brotherhood love is incredible. They literally would die for each other. Their bond has always led them to reconnect through the bad times and the good. At some points they may hate each other but they always will sacrifice themselves for they other one.

Damon was just waiting for Elena to wake up before he took it. Damon had planned on taking the cure the night of Alrick & Joe's wedding but Kai linked Elena and Bonnie together and put Elena in a coma until Bonnie dies which is why Damon had to wait to take the cure.

This was the saddest last moments of them being together for the last time but at the end of the day they finally got to let each other again

This was such a sad finale.. I cried so hard! It was his guilt, his feeling like he didn't deserve happiness or Caroline..after he turned his brother, being the ripper and the things he's done. I wished he didn't have to die, I wanted him to live as a human with Caroline for some years first.

His last words where “goodbye brother” that is so fitting for him 😢😢

This reminds me that although that Stefan was a monster at his worst moments but this is the true side of him- he died for his brother and he would do it again if he was put in the same situation once more. He saved Damon. Rest In Peace, Stefan Salvatore. ❤😢

It's poetic that Stefan gets to give Katherine her death here, along with dying himself. Sort of like taking the last anchor she has to life, breaking it and pulling her in the depths of hell.

I love how each one had different intentions, Stefan stayed to make sure the plan went through,for the greater good so his family and friends could live in peace with KPs constant torture but Damon, Damon was pure vengeance, spite. When KP says that Damon is enjoying this, it's because he was, Katherine was the first woman to ever break Damon's heart and it destroyed him, so it's obvious he wanted to relish in the moment knowing he was KPs downfall. Love it!!

No, no, that was the point. Someone had to be WITH Katherine on the other side to ensure that she was indeed dead. Also Stefan 100% COULDNT snap Damon’s neck simply because he wasn’t strong and quick enough (because he’s human).
