I had no idea he’d gone into charity work and nearly died of Malaria contracted in the DRC. He lost 8 of 10 toes from the resultant induced coma and surgeries and still managed to walk again. Legendary stuff.

Southwick is brutal, had a local pro make the national field and broke his wrist, without even crashing. Lommel, Valkenswaard and certain Dutch tracks, the sand is 3-4 feet deep in places, I mean hitting 60mph jumps with 14 deep ruts across the face of the jumps, those tracks are nuts!!! If you fell no one could see you down the track, you'd disappear.

@adammotox I dis agree, asa journalist I was at the USGP in Budds Creek where Everts beat all of our best riders, Ryan Hughes needed oxygen as did Everts after the race, they were pushing that hard. And all the guys Everts beat that came to US including Chad Reed, never beat him, last race he beat Stewart str8 up in MXdN.

He was one of the best MX riders in the world. Smooth was obviously good. He beat Bubba head-up in the MXON a few years ago. What does that tell you.

i love how this guy gets the same speed as the american pros, but is not revving the fuck out of the engine Barcia style, is hardly using energy, and is controlling that 450 to the max. Yet still he is a better rider than the US pros. BIG UP!

@squantotheboywonder John Dowd start when he was 21 and he went pro and has a supercross 125 (lites) title and he raced well in the outdoors too which I believe he has a 125 outdoor title. I start when I was 16, McGrath started when he was 16 (though both of us started racing BMX young)

@adammotox Bro you only see whats going on here in the US. In Europe, especially Belgium, he is a rock star, mobbed for autographs and everything, he is also the highest paid mx rider over there, he's worth millions, he has nothing to prove. He beat Chad Reed, Ryan Hughes, Maqnicq Bervoets a whole host of super fast riders. People say the best riders came to the States, yes, only after Everts whooped up on them.

@adammotox Im with ya on that one, I was rooting for Ryno and Kdub when Everts beat them in moto one, he earned it, they cut him no slack. As a journalist for Cycle News, I ragged on ALL the US riders who DIDNT show up, Ryno, KDub and a few others were heroes to me, they stood up for US honor and glory. and I said so in the article. I bitched at US spectators as well, NASCAR is cool but a GRAND PRIX in your back yard and you dont come out, shame on them.

@adammotox haha, you make me laugh have you ever seen a track like lierop, lommel, valkenswaard? well, i have and i have also seen 'the' sand track of theus: southwick in real life, and you cant compare them btw, stefan may not be the fastest, but still the most consistent and smoothest. at least stefan can sit on his bike for more than ten seconds unlike stewart. Riders become faster, faster and faster as years fly by and stefan already quitted 5 years ago.

typical, RC beat him at the nations, so what.... Everts won the nations 5 times, RC only 3 times, so what... There both great riders, just in an other continent. RC won titles, so did Everts... If i could give a list of the 3 best riders of all time, there both in it, but who on 1st? For the american riders out here, look further then the states, there are some pretty good riders in Europe!!

  • @Lonesomebees

@FiftyCalHeadshot hey bud, didnt know there was a difference in american tracks and tracks over seas... because there isnt! america doesnt have only hard soil weve got it all as do you guys. stefan is slow, good rider and really smooth but still slow. bring him to america he will be nobody.
