Fantastic. I never thought of using a plug to fix a steering wheel. I passed up fixing one today cause it was like this one. I did however fix another one today using your method for foam. Thanks again. Keep them coming.

Mark, I am having to adjust my schedule. I don't know if I'll be able to keep doing any classes. That means committing to several full days and I am not wanting to do that. I am only scheduling half days and so that means booking a month ahead or sending customers elsewhere. Thanks

Yes! A high metallic water base paint toner. Super easy to use. Easy cleanup if you do it right away. Your supplier will have it.

what would you recommend for a regular rubber steering wheel as a filler?

I have used a 2 part flexible epoxy to establish the contour and then covered with a custom leather wrap.

Great job mate. I love your videos.Unbelievable. So you think you will have any problem with cracking where you used the glue. I did some light scratches on a leather BMW steering Wheel with some medium viscosity power gel. I barley used any but all the places I used it cracked and it came back to me. I’ve been using leather compounds from viper now on s. Wheels but they take along time to dry and hard to apply woth pallet knife ( I might try your trick with rag and paint ).

Glue by itself is going to crack. We see it all the time in others' repairs when they expect glue to do the entire job over a flexible substrate. This method, however, allows for a lot of movement and flexing. Nowhere is there any continuous film of glue to crack. You can see that I didn't take any special care in handling the steering wheel after the repair was made. Even masking directly on top of the fresh finish. That's the confidence I've come to have in the process. Thank you for contributing!

Well yesterday I was able to successfully complete my first plug thanks to your awesome video. Customer was happy. I work at an upholstery shop part-time so I grabbed a couple pieces of scrap leather and I keep them in my truck. I did not have the scathing device so I had to shave down the back of the leather with my knife and a razor. It was still too tall though.... Overall works great but I had to sand the crap out of it. Kudos!
