SteelSeries Arctis Pro - Broken/Loose Earpiece DIY Fix

DISCLAIMER: please do this at your own risk. I'm not responsible for whatever happens to your headset, and what worked for me will likely work for you if you're careful with your headset.
Sorry for mixing up plastic cable ties and saying wires a lot, but hopefully I was clear enough to be understood.
This video offers instructions on how to fix your SteelSeries Arctis Pro Headset if you can't send it to RMA and don't want to use any foams, glues or epoxies in the process.
This a simple fix and makes the headset as tight as new (or more, if you wish so).
FOR THIS FIX, YOU WILL NEED:
A small flathead screwdriver
A small crosshead screwdriver
2 plastic cable ties
A piece of firm plastic that you can cut for padding (optional)

I'm actually really impressed with how well that turned out. I was a bit upset, at first, with his avoidance of using tools to melt the plastic and reform the original hole back to normal, but given the skill set most viewers here probably have, this is likely really useful for the most amount of people viewing this.

Idk y they decided to build their headsets like this. And it’s such a shame too cuz they actually sound really nice and are easily one of if not the most comfortable headsets on the market.

Thanks a lot! Had poor sound and a sore ear for months now, never knew the fix could be this easy. If you don't have zipties anywhere around your house, you might have some left over in your motherboard box if you've built your pc yourself (or recieved the parts from those who did). Just a tip :)

At first, I thought this was a bad idea. I was about to throw mine in the trash. So, I grabbed my drill and a few ties. This is a great idea. It's secure and feels like it'll hold well. I skipped the plastic insert and just zipped mine in, but good idea. Thank You.

Dude this is such a good headset and sounds so nice. I love the microphone wire how you can move it around. I love the mute button and so many other things. But the fact that it always breaks like this and it’s not expandable sucks. It’s a crucial thing for a headset they need to fix it and I’m pretty sure this headset would be top tier.

Same thing happened to my headphones just now. I fixed it by loosening the snap ring off the grey insert and sliding it and the washer back inside the housing. I then took all the plastic bits and glued them back together using plastic cement(with the cord running through the remains of the original hole). After it had 15 minutes to cure I stiffened the area around the holes with some gorilla glue tape on the inside and outside. I could then slotted the grey insert back into the earphone housing and re-set the snap ring. Worked out pretty well......hopefully it will hold up. I would highly recommend pre-emptively using some sort of stiffener like gorilla glue tape or some mesh tape and epoxy on both sides of the area of the part that accepts the rod that inserts into the ear piece. This way the torque on that rigid plastic section will be better absorbed.

I am wondering if stacking teflon washers tight in the cup hinge would prevent the impending loose-broken cup frame on one that is new to very little to no wear on it. Teflon is slick af so it wouldn't bind & its tough. And with a soft washer stack, it would absorb some shock. Might have to mod the hinge a bit to ensure the stack never comes off the hinge. Just a idea atm though 👍 . I use to have a ton of teflon washers when I got heavy into hobby grade rc. Maybe even wrap a multi layer of aluminum tape along the internal edges of the cup frame for even more durability. Just got to cut & pull the excess tape for secure driver frame side mount. I know, lot of work for a headset. But I think the drivers would wear out before the frame if it was modded like that. Seems like great headsets aside from that hinge to earcup mount design.

I just send mine back to amazon, exactly same break problem, I am usually very careful with mine. Happy that they lasted me 1 year. Time toi move away from Steeleseries although they do sound good. I described it as a design flaw as this is my second pair with same fault. Very expensive premium headphones. They are a new company with little experience in making structurally robust headsets, just decent audio technology.

philips 0 or 00 precision is used by earlier headsets until too many people took them apart and they have a security hex screw with a pin in middle to prevent regular screwdriver insertion, u can break a screwdriver getting these screws out and is luck based if u get all 3 out

Can somebody help my understand why this keeps happening? Honesty please....but are y'all dropping them or being rough? Plastic didn't just break without force so what's happening that causes it to break?stretching to far when putting on or taking off?...i just ordered a pair at a good price and I'm wondering if i should send back.

Honestly The Plastic they are using here requires no force The Plastic is so brittle and thin at the Swivel the act of Putting them on is enough to break. Suggestion Do not put them on by holding the Cups. Pick them up by the Band on both sides and Stretch from the Band (witch is metal to put the on tour ears, Take them off exactly the sake. In the End Don' t Drop them at all either

**This may void your warranty - so use with caution** Anyone looking to fix the weakness in these headphones (before it breaks) here's my fix. Remove the foam ear cup (loosen one side work it around. Use a tiny Phillips screw driver and remove the three screws. Now be gentle with the ear cup as you remove it and keep it close to the headphones because the wires as you will see are basically dental floss. Flip the ear cup over that keeps it as far away from the main headset and give you room to work. Now if you look up where the headband connects to the main ear cup (in the videos this is the broken location) you will see where the metal arm extends into the base and on that base there is a small metal c-clamp. If is hasn't fully fallen off you can very gently push against it while pressing the headband portion back in towards the ear cup. It should re-seat itself in the small recessed area its supposed to stay in. Voila its fixed. I only used a small screw driver (assembly/disassembly) and a small plastic smudger tool to push the clamp back into place. Be gentle in there nothing take force and any force will likely break something, likely wiring. You do not need to remove the circuit board inside. I am not an authorized repair person, however this was a fast fix for me rather then sending in the unit for warranty and going through all that...It may have voided my warranty but if it does, I won't be buying steel series ever again. Cheers, **This may void your warranty - so use with caution**

Did this to my Arctis 9x and it works there is barely a difference, and once I got the strap readjusted then it was all fine, if you want more svivel you could just cross the zip ties over the arm in an X patern, and if you really want more articulation you could even just use hair bands instead of zip ties, I prefer the more robust approach

Quick recommendation if you are doing this to repair your headphones. Buy black/dark gray zip ties and use some epoxy to level out hole once you've added the plastic (if you had a hole). Then it will look fairly decent (given the garbage original build quality).
