Omar and Andy absolutely crushed this draft. They not only filled their two most pressing OL needs at OT and C with blue chip talent, but they did so without having to spend draft capital to move up or back to get the players they coveted. They stood pat at their 20th spot and got the players they wanted most. They also got great overall value by taking players with first and second round grades in the later rounds. The competition at camp is going to be intense.

They are planning for leverage against Daniels contract negotiations next offseason. Far too long, the Steelers have been patching their offensive line. This pick allows them to focus more on the defensive side of the line next draft.
@anthonydonelli6194

I think that’s fair but I think taking McCormick will end up being a better long-term decision. I’m guessing the thought process was that hopefully he will be a starting-worthy guy in a year or two when Daniels’ contract is up. That way we don’t have to be in this situation (of rushing to chase multiple plug-and-play O-lineman with early-round picks) again any time soon. I think this also goes to show that the front office and coaches have confidence in guys like Trice and Rush to make an impact this season and push their way into the CB rotation.

Not absolutely sure they need to give up all that much. Van Jefferson, Austin are perfectly servicable while Pickens and the rookie catch up. The team is going to have 2 TE sets a lot while Darnell is healthy. Watch some of the old Titans film to see what I’m talking about.
