Steamrail Victoria's Newport Workshops 2024 Open Days
In this video we visit Steamrail's Victoria's home base Newport Workshops over 2 of the 3 days (Saturday & Sunday) for Open Days that happens every 2 years operating all their steam locomotives (only 10 this year) to show to the public on what these beautiful machines did back then, people could go in the cabs and blow the whistles and watch demonstration trains running up and down the yards. These workshops are also associated with 707 Operations which also had some of the their engines including R707 in operation as well as Dermpav who have their Railmotor 58RM on display with them also offering a sausage sizzle near by. The open days also showed off some new additions: S301 gifted from Pacific National to Steamrail, B72 operating for the first time, R761 who had a repaint to it's original 1985 look when it went into preservation and many more.

Highly enjoyed, great capture of the Riverlander
Good on you Jesse, great film capturing the steamrail open day. I was there on Sunday and I loved every moment of it. I also bumped into an old friend of mine, John Hoy! He used to be operations manager at Puffing Billy, but now he is both vice president and operations manager at the Victorian Goldfields Railway. He'd often invite me onto the footplate for a cab ride. But it was wonderful to see him after a long time. I heard that the train and hobby show is coming up this weekend.
