In August 2016, Oamaru, New Zealand, broke the world record for the greatest number of steampunks gathered in once place - but what is steampunk? First used in 1987, the term refers to a sub genre of science fiction that imagines a Victorian vision of the future, spawning a whole world of literature, fashion and culture.
