    "Ei herranen aika" would have been more appropriate. Directly translating to "No lordly time" and is roughly equivalent to saying "For goodness sake" Though if you'd like Seymour to spout power words "Voi vittu" would've also sufficed. Using the P-word would've been a little much for this situation, given it's position on the power scale.

    The German version feels so off. I feel like due to German taking more words to express things than English does the pacing feels way faster because there aren't as many pauses which really bugged me. Also, unless I'm stupid, I'm pretty sure "Huschel" is not a word, so the pun loses some of it's value, though I understand that translating puns accurately is almost always impossible

  • @Manaklyps

    @Manaklyps

    You can't translate the joke well, the word "Huschel" doesn't really exist in German either. However, "gedämpfte Huscheln" sounds so stupid that it makes it funny again.

    I haven't heard German Simpsons in years so the different voices kind of trip me up regardless, but I think this particular translation is also just kind of clunky. Seymour's dialogue seems to be deliberately localized to be a bit on the overly formal and old-fashioned side, which probably works well for his character in general but makes him miss comedic timing in this sketch in particular. The steamed hams wordplay also just doesn't work in other languages. They should've probably gone for a different pun instead of trying to do it faithfully, but it's also possible they just couldn't think of anything good.
