A little tip: strip your arms armor with stealth is a mistake, a single point of damage in a location without armor will cause your mech smoking jeopardizing your stealthiness.
@kmbdbob
3 жыл бұрын
Too bad you just can't dismount your arms and spawn without them..
The human eye notices movement above all else, with that type of stealth build staying still as much as possible would be key. Shoot and move negates the stealth of the mech to a massive degree. I know it's muscle memory, but the mech would have been MUCH more effective with as little movement between shots as possible. The B33f did the same build in an old vid, I think he even shut down here and there on purpose.

Haha I remember fucking with a guy and his team in a 2x ERPPC Cicada shutting down like that on HPG Manifold before stealth armor was in game. I was last alive vs 3-4 and I shut down in the shadows along the base of one of the walls around our base. Single guy started capping, so I powered up shot him in the back then shut down and watched him look around confused. Did that twice to him before others showed up and shot 2 of them also before one of them saw my 5th shot then clobbered me. Everybody on my team was laughing their asses off watching them all look around confused. Why they didn't keep facing the direction the shots came from IDK.

13:30 I believe you literally turned that RAClops into a stick with a single pair of shots! There was a "Component Destroyed" indicator as the hit registered! I thought the RACs were just jammed, but rewatching it was when I saw the Component Destroyed. You sent your Gauss slugs down the stream of RAC shells, it's like those shows with sniper combat and the winner sends the kill shot down the opponents scope. You may have not killed that mech, but you took out a lot of firepower from the OpFor with that shot!
@Baradul - This is one of my two favorite mech builds you've played recently, along with the U-AC/20 Bushwacker in the Daily Dose #1131. This mech is the perfect stealth sniper, and you played your battlefield role just right; flanking, deleting opponents' main weapons, and punching big holes in armor for your teammates to exploit. And thank you for not putting lasers on a stealth mech. People do that too much in this game; we can all see them, very clearly, and from very far away.
Great stuff Baradul! Thanks!
That was extremely entertaining! Thx for the vids!
I know you’re not a big fan of the max zoom but in this case( 2nd game) it would have come in handy early in the game. Great shooting by the way!

@Ian Robertson I agree the max zoom is pretty naff. My eyes respond to targets much better with the natural zoom levels.
Been waiting for something like this! I adored the early Thanatos builds I used, like a UAC/20 with LB-X/20. Crack it open and splash to the face.

Have not tried stealth TNS in game, though uac40 is lot's of fun on most maps. Wonder if double ac10 or lbx10 with stealth will work well as close-mid fire support.
I tried this build today, thanks. Flanked and sniped as the enemy pressed our team. Was a joy to play, but I need to skill this mech up for even more fun.
I really enjoyed watching this and feel this is a natural build I'd have much fun with.

not exactly, the point of ecm is to cover your team against enemy locks with stealth however you don´t realy want to be within a teamblob imo and stealth severly decreases your own sensorrange were it turns you more or less into a lone wolf assassin yes you CAN stay with the group for ecm cover but imo you rather want to use stealth to reposition yourself .. if i´m not wrong were ecm merely prolongs locks, stealth pretty much denies it unless in close range, use of tag, narc or bap and counterecm, or the stealthmech being hit with a ppcs .. one thing i wonder is if a narc stealthmech were it doesn´t provide intel for yourself if it actualy does so for your team .. as that imo allows for a couple instresting tactics ...
@MrTBSC
3 жыл бұрын
@Ian Robertson stupid op? nah .. stealth severly limits your equipmeant options ... such a dual gaussbuild can just barely be made on a thanatos with stealth ... and ONLY on the thanatos as a heavy mech .. lack of case means destruction of a gauss may criple you heavily, 60 kph for such a mech is rather slow and doesn´t offer much mobility which means you rely on stealth to reposition ... personaly i would rather go with a dual lightgaussbuild backed up by 2 ermls or pick the cataphract ecm variant with one standartgauss and ermls even if that would mean to occationaly turn off stealth to cool down ... otherwise on this thanatos variant i´d pick 2 dual AC 10 + las or ac 5s +ppcs still use of stealth can mean a big difference between being able to use more ammo, armor, bigger engine or simply more weapons .. its heatgen after patching is neglible so it´s about not dissipating heat while using it ... which limits EVERY stealthmech that primarily uses energy and/or missile hardpoints and besides the cataphract and thanatos heavymechs for IS mediummechs there is only one non hero variant of the phoenixhawk somewhat capable to run a stealthgauss or balisticbuild, not having to go for assaults such as the fafnir, marauder 2 or nightstar .. the only 2 IS light mechs capable to properly run a high caliber balistic weapon, being the urbanmech and firestarter lack any ecm/stealthcapability .. so not only are there very few ballistic stealthmech-variants but they also limit your alpha or dps output (as well as surviveability) to what you otherwise would be capable of .. so that rather ballances it in my book ... i mean if it was THAT op than how is there not always at least one balistic stealthmech in every match played ... and then saying "oh it can be countered by players with awareness" kinda contradicts your claim about IS stealthmechs being op ..

@Ian Robertson stealth isnt "PGI" trash but an actual TT/canon equipment, but i agree with you on lonewolf positioning only working against noobs... personally i figured stealth on anything bigger than a Locust is just to defend against indirect missile fire ;)
I played against a marauder with a similar build, and a black paint scheme on grim plexus. He literally blended into the landscape. He was probably only 300 meters away from us and he was uncontested for a good 40 seconds.
With my heavy gauss build. I have one shot a handfull of light mechs. Pure joy.
I enjoy this build. I tend to join the brawl late game still stealthed up. The enemy often ignores mechs that don't have red triangles above them. You skipped the Gauss Charge nodes in the firepower tree also.

Get on the slope of the main hill on crimson straights with this build and wreck stuff, a jj helps there though.
I would not have liked to be on the opposing team. Twin gauss shots coming from nowhere would be unnerving. And, if I did find the source, it would be a giant armored Thanatos. (Also, it's too bad your arms weren't taken off, that would have been even more unnerving to see, a giant death machine with no arms still taking mechs apart. Glorious.)
You know what would be pretty cool is if you aren't using arms on a build is being able to take the arms off and increase speed or acceleration due to the weight reduction. Another cool benefit would be that since the arms are gone when you get hit the arms won't be crit and start smoking and sparking which could give you away depending on the map.
Been playing this for a few weeks. Ive been doing with light gauss thiugh. Even tried dual ac5s. All i learned is light gauss you deal tons of damage over the round but get nothing else in return. I put 2 ML just for fun as well in the arm. Light guass or the ac5s allowed more speed. I cant stand slow. I even went full speed tweak
Haha, just fought you in game while I have this video on the second screen, lol. You might have killed me. I was being shot by a Timbie (you) and another and got my Uziel legged mid air trying to regroup with my nascar team after killing your teams lone Rifleman.
A few points for torso speed or turn speed will make close range aiming much better
I know you don't need the cooling but maybe taking the reduced screen shake skill nodes would be a good idea on these gauss snipers to help aim while under fire.
Love this build. It's been one of my most successful mechs ingame.
7:24 disgusting accuracy and timing!
I would recommend advanced zoom as well for sniping

Advanced Zoom is one of those things that sounds good, looks good but hasn't been super practical since very early beta.
@MrTBSC
3 жыл бұрын
impo advanced zoom CAN help, you however have to use it sparringly, get a general aquisition to target then advance zoom to hit the component you want to focus on, and that in a quick manner best on standing or less mobile targets, forget it on lights ... imo it is best used with alphadmg-pinpoint-weapons in midrange such as gaussrifles, ppcs and highcalliber non splash ACs .. using lowcaliber ACgroups with it is generaly not a good idea as you want to just pepper your target with bullets from range in that case .... it did help me get ONE headshot kill with heavy gausses ... yay .. but generaly? yea there are better options to put your skillpoints into
Have to say, I actually favour the light gauss for this sort of thing, less damage but lower cooldown and shorter charge time gives it a higher DPS if you can get time-on-target, and 25 shots per tonne instead of 10 in the ammo hoppers gives higher potential damage per tonne of ammo.
Please another vid with this build, but this time stand still instead of moving unless you get shot at to get more out of the stealth build!
I still biased towards Orion IIC-C for being the best dual-gauss wielder, I got some insane matches with it when I've been playing and it was really darn good in Solaris as well - entire left side to tank with (and it is much bigger compared to RT), dual-gauss on the right, STD engine 290, 5.5 tons of gauss ammo, ERPPC and TC1 in CT. Of course it lacks ECM and stealth armor options but you can tank for days using dead side as shield without being afraid to lose your weaponry as gauss tends to explode easily
You did it thank you bb
what would you change in game strategy if this mech were equipped with 2xlight gauss rifles and 3 or 4 jj for max mobility with a 300 std engine? (of course ecm+stealth)
I love this build, but I drop the ammo from CT for 2 JJ.

Huh. Gonna have to give that a try.
This build is so stronk ! Getting regulary 300-600 damage, but this one run (medium drunk) was so good, everyone commented nice and good work, i was the last on battlefield against 4 i think, i did 945 damage and 12 component destroyed 6 kills and 5 assists. had a 1:1, killed a light mech sourrounding me and killed lots of mechs wo walked 10 metres by me and didnt see me or thought i was a friend. I first though speed quirks are better, but the tanky skill tree makes the difference. I dont like that PGI charged me 500 MC to paint the Thanatos all black. on a side note you can launch and connect your gauss at zero range. i dindt had any problem to facehug enemy and unload double gauss into their face. and true you dont need zoom.
I always end up owning the more obtuse colors. as a result my pirana is a bright red.
Noice!

I run JJ on mine. If I get Mining Collective you better watch your back. I'm 30% successful in this build but when it works it is amazing. I like to spread fire so no one nme knows I am there. They think it's friendly fire! I try to pop off right torsos of assault mechs then move on to the next. God help the light mech that stands still. Also done some serious damage with artie putting smoke right behind their firing line and no one sees it. Mixed queue and wolfpacks reduce the effectiveness. Will try no JJ and increased speed for a change.
Do you press an extra button to not shoot the Gauss when they are charged? If you let the button go you shoot them.

Stealth build with large engine. Take a Gauss or AC10 (my choice)...small lasers for backup, no jumpjets stay at the outskirts of your team and shoot your ballistics as fast as you can.
I like to think this is how Panzer tankers were talking during WW2.
Why stealth armor? Won't ECM be enough at the range of Gauss? Taking that you have no lasers to heat you up.
@Bigbacon

People seem to forget you with stealth on. They dont see any kind of blip or anything and just dont see you. Like many players dont see targets unless there is something. Stealth also help at closer range so they dont get that visual of being a target. You would be amazed at how often even a big mech like this just gets over looked under stealth.

I would assume that you don’t have the extra ammo on the weapon skill tree or didn’t reduce the arm armor. I just made this build and got the same ammo. 7 tons of ammo.
Begging the folks still running this build not to abandon their team hanging back doing nothing waiting for people to walk into their crosshairs.
There are no good mechs in the game to take 2 gauss + ECM. Nightstar - cant remove hand actuators from is so you cant put gauss in arms Thanatos - Cant XL it with Gauss, have to run at assault pace on 75 tonner Phoenix hawk - not enough tonnage Fafnit - low engine cap Marauder II - low engine cap Sunspider - oversized engine with unremovable heatsinks Hellbringer - oversized engine with unremovable heatsinks Night Gyr - too slow, low hardpoints, cant do dual gauss vomit well(only 2 energy HP with 2 gauss)
