Great channel ! I picked up the G430 5 wood today, I’ve been golfing a year and not yet consistent enough with driver so my golf coach suggested 5 wood and so far I’m loving it’s easy to hit nature and still getting 200+ yards when hit well. Great!

Hi Andy. I have to agree both are amazing from forgiveness point of view. I generally do have a fear from fairway woods. Picked them up for testing and immediately bought the G430 3 and 7 woods. Amazing forgiveness, great distance, very well balanced and easy to hit woods. The white lines on the ping face suites my eyes more.

Ping is priced pretty high this year here in Canada 520.00 for a fairway wood...crazy... the Taylormade is 450.00....crazy times are here , I am in need of a 7 wood and I have it narrowed down to these 2 clubs..leaning a bit more to the Taylormade 70.00 less plus i have a bag of mostly steath clubs....cheers from Canada

I've got a 5 and 7 wood both Sim2 and a 9 wood Stealth. I absolutely love all three of them and just always hit them good. Gives me options on what to put in the bag depending on course and conditions. I'll probably give the Stealth 2 a try but it's going to take a lot to beat my current options.

Quite a few brands have strong lofted 3 woods currently which can be a good driver alternative for a lot of golfers - Callaway, Srixon, Taylormade and Titleist all have something. It would make a good review. I have a 2014 Ping Rapture 13 degree 3 wood and it goes as far as my driver but I couldn’t get consistently as close with a standard 3 wood TSR2+ , Stealth Plus etc look similar

Loft of 19 degrees on a 5w is interesting. G425 5w is 17.5 degrees so the G430 and Stealth and almost a 6w rather than a 5w. Certainly gives a nice high ball flight but maybe losing a bit of carry distance. The problem for me is that I also carry a 7w (at 21 degrees), I am worried that I just would not have enough of a gap in carry between the clubs - and I cannot simply loft up the 7w because then it would barely outperform my 4h. Looking at the dry ball data rather confirms my fears. I always thought I carried the ball about the same as Andy, maybe a couple of yards longer but not 10-15 yards. Of course it is cold and Andy has a few layers on so maybe he is swinging a bit slower at the moment, but the ball is simply not carrying as far as I thought it would, it is not only 10-15 yards shorter than I get with my 5w but actually slightly shorter than I get with my current 7w

I have Ping 425 5W and 3W. I will try the 430 but can't justify buying them (have not hit them by the way). I don't mind the "crack" with them when you hit them. If the 430 is much better, they must be really nice, maybe I should not hit them. I don't like gloss tops on drivers/fwy/hybrids. Back when TM had the 300 series drivers, they hit well but sounded like a tissue box hit the ball. Since then, never liked TM. They make good clubs, I just don't like them.

Didn't you start out the video by saying there minimal differences in drivers but there are in fairways? Not on those figures obviously. I think there is a reason pros tend to keep fairway woods longer than other club. I use a Ping G410 not because I think it is better than other fairways, but because newer ones have demonstrated zero improvement. and because the adjustability of the Ping hosel is even more useful in a fairway (or hybrid) than it is in a driver. I know you get clicks from testing new clubs, but there hasn't been a measurable difference in anything you've tested for yonks. You're able to test and bag the latest and greatest. Has your handicap or scores moved at all?

@@TheAverageGolfer "For me there is nothing to seperate the top (driver) brands right now. But when it comes to the long end of the bag things are hotting up." I interpret that to mean fairways can be separated. Of course, this the problem with all the online (and offline) sites that rely on manufactured (by manufacturers) belief that this time it will be different despite all the Trackman generated numbers indicating that it isn't. Mr Crossfield was the flagbearer for this, but nevertheless tests every new club. I'm happy for your success, but wish you could find a way to maintain it whilst weaning the average golfers you champion off this treadmill. Yes, some drivers, woods or irons may suit some golfers over others due to swing mechanic, skill or whatever, but there has been no objective improvement. According to Trackman I have exactly the same numbers with the new Paradym, for example, as I did with the 2016 Great Big Bertha. Like yourself I am a PXG fan and have been 'fitted' for every generation. I like the looks and feel of my Gen3s, but there is no difference in numbers compared to my old Gen1s or the new Gen5s. Ditto when compared to TM P790, Cobra Forged Tec and similar. The only irons I've tried that are notably different are the Cleveland Halos which uniquely combine massive forgiveness with minimal offset (less than most players irons). They are the only SGI club that suit those of use who miss left. I no longer use the whole set because of pride, looks and sound but I should. You have thousands of subscribers who trust you.
