STEAK TEST, Sear vs Reverse Sear | Can You Taste The Difference

In this video, I'll go over the reverse sear vs sear method and why I think choosing one method over the other to cook the best steak is subjective. I'll test each cooking method out and do a steak test to see if anyone could actually taste a difference. Does the reverse method give you a tender, juicer, more flavorful, and better steak?

I am a die-hard 'sear first, bring up to temperature' steak griller. It's easy and works very well. It just seems to me (guessing) that bringing up to temperature first and searing second is a bit trickier as the sear process would be less easy to judge, and more prone to over or undershooting the internal temp,. Will be sticking with what has worked great. Very interesting video - had never heard of reverse-searing.

Im glad you enjoyed it. Sear first seems to work well for you. That’s all that mattered at the end of the day. Happy grilling

Great video as usual. And your voice is very relaxing.. quite the opposite of most videos where almost everyone seems to be shouting 🤣

Glad you enjoyed it! My voice is softer these days mostly because we have a baby in the house. My son just turned 6 months old and the only time I really have to shoot videos is after the kids are asleep lol.

Nice video !! It may help me understand better how to Sear my Steak seeing you do the Reverse Sear method 😅 Where I live, I usually find thinner steaks that are difficult to sear without overcook when you're a beginner like me ! So I was afraid to have too high temperature and overcook trying to have a nice crust ! And seeing the Reverse Sear made me realize that I can Sear with an already cook steak ! I'll try up the heat to see how fast I can sear before lowing the heat to finish cooking 🤷‍♂️ Ooh and the blind tasting was a great idea !! Thank you for your videos 😁

Thanks! I’m glad you enjoyed the video. For thinner steaks, I tend to do the sear first method because often after searing the steaks are at my desired internal temps. I usually only do the reverse sear method on steak 1 1/2 thick or thicker.

As long as it tastes good, I don't care how it is made. 😁
