    I don't know how people manage to be this organized massive props. I used to be a very very good student (A* student) up until just before A2 and since A2 started i basically lost all my motivation to study and stopped caring at all about my grades and was happy to get just the bare minimum grades to get into the uni of my choice. i do miss that diligent student within me that could spend entire days just studying and doing amazing, nowadays its a rare occasion that i even study a little bit :/

    I got no As in school but I'm graduating med school next year AND doing my USMLE. School was really just to help you find the right way to study. nothing big. not even university grades are that important, after graduation what will matter most is how and what you've done to contribute to the community (doesn't apply to all fields). you could grad university with a thousand As by spending 100% of your time doing so, but someone with a bit more researches that you with a couple As only will actually get the job instead of you. wish people knew the reality behind school and university systems and how people actually get a job way sooner. wish I didn't waste all my mental energy trying so hard to get 100 instead of 99 on school work, it means nothing academically, only implies personal improvement. good luck to everyone.

Idk how that's gonna happen when my organisation skills is zero and my memory and discipline is on par with my tennis skills - which is terrible. So having said that, I'm gonna watch this video and give it some actual serious thought. Thanks in advance.

  • @JL-ky3zm

    @JL-ky3zm

    2 жыл бұрын

    Doesn’t matter how many hours it is, it just depends on the quality of revision. It could be 30 minutes of Anki some nights or 2 hours of practise papers. You can’t set a time limit as it doesn’t allow you to fully focus, as you’ll constantly be focused on the time. Hope this makes sense

    You get out what you put in, A levels are the easiest part of getting into cambridge (if that's what your after). The most work goes into perfecting the personal statement and moving onto interview. Consistancy is king doing just an hour a night, every night on varying subjects using good revision techniques will stand you in better stead than nearly every other student in the country.

    Mine also recommends between 27-30 hours, but quality over quantity as you may know. For example in a day when you don't have school you could do: 2-3 hours past papers/Questions papers about a topic, 1-2h Flashcards, 1-2h Reading the revision guide and watch videos about something you didnt understand. You could change the hours also.

    Honestly, having daily goals on paper is so simple yet so genius. Personally, I have a lot of issues following specific study times because I'm generally really lax about time management, so a start time of 6:00 can easily get procrastinated to 7:00. This is coupled with how when I DO start doing something, I find it really hard to stop myself for anything (except using the bathroom), and that kind of makes me not want to start doing anything, especially on big tasks. In addition to that, I also generally have no clue where to start, making me less likely to start even more, and all those factors combined result in a horrible study plan. However, by breaking tasks into smaller daily goals (which I really should've done earlier), it's going to be way more lenient being lax with my time management, as well as making me much more likely to complete tasks, since it's smaller to complete. Also, on paper I don't have to keep swapping tabs or turning on my phone to check, since I can just flick my head. TL;DR I'm bad at studying and these tips might fit my general study approach way better

    I have met a bunch of people here at Cambridge who did plenty of sports before coming to university so I think it should be possible. But it can depend on a lot of small things (eg, how far it is from the nearest sporting facility, subjects you're studying, the revision techniques you're using). As for how to actually do it, I have no idea because I didn't do much sports myself 😅 But using effective revision techniques can free up a bunch of time (because you can achieve the same grades with less time) and being organised is a great place to start

    How do you think outside the box RAMJAD, which leads to success

  • @RAmjad

    @RAmjad

    2 жыл бұрын

    I don't think that I think outside the box? Hmm, I think that if I do then it largely comes down to reading about interesting ideas and speaking to people about ideas and going on walks to give myself time to think. I don't think there is a secret formula or source but I find speaking to people to be the most valuable of the three

    Hi, it depends on the subject that you're applying for. I would recommend looking at Cambridge's undergraduate courses website here: www.undergraduate.study.cam.ac.uk/courses And then looking at the entry requirements there

    Kinda! I do use the folder for courses but I usually have a loose understanding / routine of what to be doing everyday that I don't resort to using the paper-based planner too much. Some weeks when I feel particularly busy then I will but other weeks not so much (especially during the first few weeks of term when things are a little slow). University is a little hectic and with tons of events going on or randomly having friends visit at 10pm or visiting them can throw a few work-related plans out-of-whack but it's fine 😅

    I didn’t make many flashcards. I think most of my flashcards were on Statistics because some questions required precise wording to get the marks. I think maths is one of the subjects where it’s harder to make flashcards for (besides for some proofs or tricks that are helpful) and it’s better to focus on doing questions

    If I did this I'd easily get an A*A*A*. Unfortunately, I missed my chance... Still in uni tho... Somehow. I'm breezing through life with no stress, it's kinda boring, but not worrisome. :D I'd follow this if you're the kind of person who wants to be successful, if not.. just don't study and focus on sleep cuz you won't be sleeping during the exams until results day. I've found out that you can get a good job with EEE grades, just takes longer, but no stress.

    time doesn't matter at all, just aim for a certain amount of papers (like three a day or something like that) and try to hit that mark. If you fail (either because you either took too long or you didn't really feel like studying) don't beat yourself over it just call it a day and move along. Be sure to NOT feel guilty about it at all so that time spent being unproductive at least freshens you up for the next day. If you're like me and can't study for long periods of time then dont take break days at all and make sure to hit 3 hours of studying at least on days when you REEEEAAAAALLY dont feel like studying at all.
