'Captain Planet of rappers' that got me giggling

two of his uncles wanted to get married to their life partners. That's why he wanted to say that. He said he had written the song a long time ago but felt it would never be accepted but it was on his heart to put it out finally with so many people fighting gay marriage so heavily. So his two gay uncles and their life partners were his inspiration.... I think Macklemore is amazing. He has a different vibe and doesn't let the industry direct his voice. He does what he feels.

You had my heart at hello when you called Macklemore the Captain Planet of hip hop. I mean forreal why does he feel like he's breaking news talking discrimination we've known about for years? I never really paid him attention and I'll continue to do so

To me, the biggest problem with Macklemore isn't even him per se, but all the hype surrounding him. Mack seems keenly self aware of a lot of his privilege and the advantage it gives him and also SEEMS to mean well but needs someone to say 'no mama - you're doing everything wrong'. The man himself isn't nearly as annoying as the media for him so while I'm not exactly here for him I don't hate him either.
