This is the 'Real' Status Quo. None of the other lineups could ever capture this magic.

"The Whole is greater than the sum of the parts" Status Quo has been kept alive by Francis and Rick with Rhino, Andy and various drummers and they were always great. However, Coghlan, Parfitt, Rossi and Lancaster were the real deal! The Frantic Four!

Saw them first on the "On the Level" tour and on every tour after that up to the End of the Road tour. At that time the best live rock band on the planet, bar none. Some of the best nights of my life. Rock on the Mighty QUO!

Hard to believe that Rick has gone! I am just thankful that this tour reunited the Frantic Four! The songs carried the Quo through losing John, then Alan. Rossi/Parfitt were enough to make the songs sound right!

This is very touching and impressive to me. I (50) grew up with them, I liked best the Quo live-Double Album. In my room there was the Quo-Live Cover slowly rotating under the ceiling, no light bulb, just black light. I was sure to be fan of the best band in the world. I saw them first live in 1982 - this classic line up. I am still a fan of this, but I kind of quit the band after Rockin´ All Over The World. I did not follow the new releases afterwards anymore. Some concerts, last week Hamburg, but they cannot keep up with themselves without AL and JC. This is the better way !!! But Time´s Runnin´ Out... \m/ Great Respect to Alan Lancaster.

i adored the quo too and agree with you entirely that as soon as they released rockin all over the world i went off them completely ..that song killed them and i never blamed nuff and spud at all for quitting the band .....quos early songs /albums prior to raotw are magnificent

Funny. I (51) was a great Status Quo fan in my youth. My favorite albums were/are "Ma Kelly's greasy spoon", "Quo" and naturally "Live". But after Rockin´ All Over The World my interest has gone. So I was very surprised as I noticed this event two days ago. I bought me the CD im memory of my youth :-)

The True Quo sound comes from these four guys. i wish they would do Juniors Wailing like they they used to with Rick doing his chunka chunka guitar intro, Rick's guitar sounds the same, perfect. Alan's bass is as thick and ballsy as it used to be. i remember he had that chrome pick guard on his Mustang at the gigs i saw. When the spotlight hit it he used it to reflect into the crowd. Johns drumming has that feel only he can do. Francis should have re-set his Tele back to his 70's set up just for these gigs. Love seeing these guys together. Go The Real Quo!

Saw Quo on the Friday June 30th 1984 at Hammersmith, 3 3/4 hours. Got back to Euston ok but missed the last train to Northampton so I hitched a ride on a milk chugging slowtrain to Milton Keynes about 1.30 I think and got a taxi to Northampton, £20 it cost, lot of money in 1984 when I was on £35/week. But it was Quo so it didn't matter at all.

I always wondered why I went off Quo - now I remember. What a great rock band. Rossi says he doesn't want to do it again. The other three should just crack on.... Don't get me wrong Francis is a great lead player, and if he's happier twinkling out margarita time then good for him. Personally I'd love a chance to see the original four live while they still can.

Alan Lancaster 7/02/1949 - 26/09/2021 Bassist/Singer/Songwriter/ Producer/Genius of STATUS QUO fame, has died aged 72 of Multiple Sclerosis at his Sydney home, surrounded by his family. Born in London, he moved to Australia in 1976 after marrying his beautiful wife Dayle. Alan wrote and co-wrote many classic Rock songs The 9 1/2 minute Psych/Rock song "Is It Really Me, Gotta Go Home" was written by the Genius of Alan Charles Lancaster. Ma Kelly's Greasy Spoon album 1970 on the Astor / Pye Label. Produced by the late / great John Schroeder. Anyone who met Nuff would know first hand what a beautiful, sweet and charming gentleman he was. I had the pleasure of socialising with Alan at a few gigs in the late 80's, at some of his gigs with The Lancaster Bombers and The Lancaster / Brewster Band and The Party Boys, the latter having 2 Chart Topping Hits. " Hold Your Head Up " by Argent and " He's Gonna Step On You Again " by John Kongos. Alan produced a multi-platinum selling album for Pianist Roger Woodward.

One of my biggest regrets is not getting to see this lineup again. I completely turned my back on Quo when they reappeared with Rhino & his all too clean sound. Alan was an important part of the Quo sound & a good vocalist, with him & John gone the heart & soul of the band had gone. Even with Pete Kircher on the End Of The Road tour, they were still brilliant. I didn't even realise they did this until a couple of years later. Shit happens. One thing's for sure, it will never happen again - Proper Quo!

best Quo gig since the early days, without a doubt. they may not move around like they used to but they can still rock big time. It is just such a contrast between this and Panto Quo. I know they are two different bands but its hard not to compare when they both trade under the Quo name. Great recording and sound. Many thanks. This is the Quo I want to remember.

...And the new live version of Living on an Island sounds like something from the early '70s, which is a great improvement! And I'm really looking forward to the film and its soundtrack. There are some great songs there, and "Looking Out for Caroline" in particular has a genuine '70s feel. The film is just a bit of good, honest fun, and is not something to be taken totally seriously. The spirit of Quo is still alive, and long may they continue to rock!

I was at this gig ( also the Wolverhampton gig a year after in April) So don’t want any insults please.... This was the gig Rhino attended and said it was great for nostalgia but the playing was off the pace .... Jon and Jeff/ letley even more so were session players on the top of their game and I’m guessing Frames disinterest comes from he’d got himself match ( gig fit) Hey I love all Quo and I had the opportunity to taking my Dad on this tour ( something I never thought would happen thanks for posting this . Basa 1959 Except that it's not remotely true; it's forced and fake, and tuneless. It's one of the reasons I never liked the first live album, along with the shit sound - in particular Rick's thin and weedy guitar sound, Frame's poor solos and Spud's embarrassing drum solo. But Nuff's singing is the worst.
