Maddie Prior is a very nice lady. We met her once after a gig. Steeleye span got me out of trouble. When I used to play my music loud the neighbors got a petition against me but when I played Steeleye span records the local children danced around the gardens which saved my bacon.

Yeah that´s it !!!! Legendary "Status Quo" (R.I.P. Rick Parfitt) and Sister Grandioso "Maddy Prior" !!! Absolut Amazing !!

Well how can you be miserable after this? Pure joy.

Have been a fan of Steeleye Span and Maddy for as long as they've been around. Why have I never heard this version before. Respect to quo for making such a great arrangement of this.

There couldn't have two more different bands, Quo and span but this is pure class.

Is there any video of Maddy Prior performing where she isn't grinning ear to ear? She always looks like she's having the time of her life up on stage.

You know what this is? Absolute sheer fun. Thata what this is. Like only Quo can do. Maddy Prior is having the time of her life.

I love the joyful fun of this video, they are having a great time and I'd guess the audience did too

If this doesn't leave you smiling you are either have no soul or dead already.

This is a lot better than i expected . I love this version .

Don’t care what anyone says about SQ they have always stuck to their formula and huge fun band. This song was out around Christmas 1975 and has been indelibly printed in my memory as a great joyful song. Maddy is of course tremendous.

If they had done a12 bar blues version of this with Maddy it would have been worth listening to.

Loved it and this song is, to me ,the quintessential British folk song!

Love both outfits both Quo & Span and seen them both “Live” of course. What a wonderful alternative version of this perennial fave. More than full marks. You could not have sat still in that concert hall. Yours in great rock & folk-rock:/ Chris 🎼

Lucky enough to have seen Status Quo at Wembley, with INXS and The Alarm, supporting Queen, but have also been to some great Steeleye Span concerts. They took time after each concert to chat with fans, so I took the chance to meet Maddy Prior as well, and we had a quick chat. My girlfriend was already a massive fan, but she was too shy go and say hello, so I dragged her over and, after some initial trepidation, she managed to say how much she enjoyed the show. It was lovely to have met Maddy Prior and, as we shook hands, I promised to go along to one of their future concerts, which turned out to be publicised as their last show, in Letchworth. Great folk music from a really tight band, who had a close bond with their fans, but they were so much more than, 'All Around My Hat'. As for Status Quo, they rocked your socks off, and I love this cover!

@@lennyhendricks4628 that happened even to Lennon singing with the band in the last times they were live. Maybe not enough rehearsals, since no live shows or tours were in the calendar, which Paul missed a lot the most. But oddly once in his solo career, John went into appearances and guest at others' shows and he did perform uncannily focused even with material not his he barely practiced together with them. All great artists go through such periods off focus performing whther vocalists or instrumentalists or both

I am a Status Quo fan but I'm a Steeleye Span fan as well, and the best singers of all were The Silly Sisters, Maddy Prior & June Tabor. Brilliant stuff. Apparently Robert Plant said they were the best, too. There's a lot of crossover in rock and folk and really cool rock dudes know when they're hearing something great !

Status Quo is one of the most laid - back bands of all times. Though they started as psychedelic group, history similar to Bee Gees.

The strange thing is you can't play this song in Northern Ireland. I had it on my car stereo playing loud and I got dirty looks and dog's abuse from a bunch of kids at a bus stop and no one will tell me why.
