Statistics 101: Variable Transformations, Square Root Transform in Excel
In this Statistics 101 video, we learn about reflecting and then applying the square root transformation to variables so that the variables better meet the assumptions of our analytical techniques. We venture into Excel to actually do the transformation in real-time and then look at the correlations before and after. Enjoy!

Brandon thank you for taking the time to record this. You have transformed my understanding of this concept!😀
Where is the LOVE button for this video? Your videos are amazing, this is what I was searching for so long.
oh my god, thank you for this simple explanation! now I understand
Thank you for this video, Mr. Brandon. This really eased my understanding about power transformation.
I love both Brandon Foltz & Brandon Leonard ❤️😌
Life changing vids. Brandon, which educational resource or book would you recommend for a self studying newbie on financial econometrics and time series. Havard or NYU Stern isn't an option at the age of 44. Just a little concerned about retirement. Best from Barcelona!
Another great video!! Thank you so much for this effort. I wonder how we can interpret the outcomes when the variables are transformed. I hope I will find my answer in the next video!
Anyone know: once your transform variable to represent a squared term so that new variable shows up in SPSS data view (in my case), a third column (y, x1, x2) how to run a regression that includes the new variable? I regressed the problem once, transformed the variable to address skewness but when I returned to my original regression output, it didn’t show up in coefficient table. Today is Friday, Oct. 8, 2022, assignment due Sunday, Oct. 10. I’m desperate here and need help. I’ve gone to professor but his response was vague. Thank you.
