Station Commander Shares Science with Students

Ғылым және технология

Aboard the International Space Station, Expedition 35 Commander Chris Hadfield of the Canadian Space Agency fielded questions about life and research on the orbital laboratory during an in-flight educational event April 16 with students gathered at Lockview High School in Fall River, Nova Scotia. Hadfield, who is the first Canadian to command the station, is scheduled to return to Earth in mid-May after a five-month mission

    You will NEVER see any other life forms on the International play station...... Only the clowns doing music videos, comedy skits, and acting like idiots...... Honestly ask yourself why they've never ever taken any other creatures (No insects, no amphibians, no reptiles, no birds, no nothing) to this magical place where they do all these interesting scientific experiments.....Have you ever seen the "Green house" ? It's all a charade.....

A fly has more value on this planet than we do, we're already responsible for the extinction of numerous other species and counting. We're a parasite that consumes and yet we believe we have the right because we're smarter than every other living thing.

    No it's fine. Samantha C, explained that small droplets evaporate very quickly because they have dehumidifiers (all the breath, sweat... etc would make it swampy and nasty very quickly otherwise.) So basically, a larger drop hits something, splatters into many tiny drops and they evaporate very fast, almost instantly. Remember, they have every surface exposed to dry air, on earth a wet spot only has half of it's surface exposed to air to evaporate. So basically it isn't so much a big deal. Almost everything exposed is pretty water tight, and the small amounts the fly around get dried up in minutes or seconds. You notice in some videos, they purposely smack droplets to break them up, or swat them away to hit something. It's kinda funny watching them swat floating water like a fly!

    Does the speed you travel affect the gravity in orbit?

  • @Jayman2800

    @Jayman2800

    9 жыл бұрын

    they are traveling at about 23x the speed of sound which is 17,000 MPH. It may seem as though they are flying and floating weightlessly in space when actually they are falling faster than gravity can catch them giving them the sensation of Zero-G (Zero G forces applied to the body, not zero gravity) So gravity is always there its just too slow to keep up with the speed of the station.

  • @xxCrimsonSpiritxx

    to orbit, is to go faster than the earth's curving beneath you, if you go faster (further) you escape orbit, if you go slower (closer) you descend to surface, as long as you're in orbit, the gravity (on the station) is null, but earth will always have the same gravity pull

    Well, his question was about more than 'chemtrails', and it was not a bad question. Maybe he just mixed up the words, 'chemtrail' and 'contrail'. And Chris did a great job answering all these questions :)

    Can anybody answer and tell me why you can't hear sound outside in space but you can hear it inside the iss? Is it because they have their own atmosphere in there?

    Dalton Adkins sound needs a medium to travel in such as air,space is a almost a perfect vacuum and so sound has no means to travel.In the ISS they have air so sound can travel.

    Remember that sound is a vibration that travels through a gas (clapping in air), liquid (making sounds in water) or solid (knock on a table). However it has to travel THROUGH something, and a vacuum isn't anything. The vibration can't travel through it and stops. Controlling vibrations is key for a lot of jobs, especially when soundproofing something. That is why you see many Twitch Streamers and KZreadrs with soundproofing to either make sure that either outside sounds can't get in (dogs barking, traffic) or that their sounds don't escape (because your neighbor might not want to hear you screaming at a guy who killed you in Overwatch). So they have the foam and other things to absorb sounds. Things that use vacuums to control vibrations are things like double-paned windows and such that have vacuums to control sound. Hopefully that helps!

    I wanted to be a Astronaut because exporing the earth in zero gravity and finding more about earth it sounds like something I like but then I hear you have to exercise 2-3 hours a day I knew I wasn't cut out for the job.
