STATE: "Defendants can't use self-defense." Rebuttal Closing in Ahmaud Arbery Murder Trial

STATE REBUTTAL: "It's about holding people accountable and responsible for their actions." The State delivers the final word to the jury before deliberations begin in the Killing of #AhmaudArbery trial. Defense attorneys objected and argued for mistrial again when prosecutor Linda Dunikoski explained to the jury the charges against Travis McMichael, Greg McMichael and William "Roddy" Bryan in Brunswick, Georgia.

Two years later, I've come back multiple times to watch this closing argument, and also (especially) the cross examination of Travis McMichael, because this is one of the most impressive prosecutions I've ever seen. It's one thing to completely dismantle a defendant on the stand, but Linda Dunikoski's lines of questioning were so effective, she persuaded Travis McMichael to dismantle *himself* on the stand. Piece by piece, and with confidence, he demolished his own claims of self defense and citizen's arrest, with his own testimony.

Nothing against this prosecutor, I probably could have tried this case and gotten a guilty verdict.🤷🏿‍♂️

I believe that it was the small things like reminded the jury that the McMichael’s and Mr. Bryant didn’t have to go out with the intention to kill, for it still to be murder. I also liked when she kept reminding the jury that Mr. Arbery had no legal obligation to stop and talk to the would be killers. I believe that even though there may be a bunch of evidence, it still takes a skill to articulate that evidence in a way that can be clear to 12 people of different educational, life experience, etc….. backgrounds.

Just like Kyle Rittenhouse Travis McMichael was standing his ground when an insane criminal RUSHED HIM and tried to forcibly take control of his firearm leaving him no other choice but to defend himself. Unlike Jeffrey Rosenbaum Ahmaud Arbery was wanted for criminal trespass and on probation for previous felonies making his incursions into Larry English's home an automatic felony in the state of Georgia and the McMichaels had real-world actionable intelligence because the police were reporting to them and even searching the neighborhood side-by-side while everyone was armed. Unfortunately for Travis McMichael the criminal he shot was black and had the weight of Oprah Winfrey (pun intended) behind him when she chose to "run with Ahmaud" in order to achieve some kind of perverted congress with the now-discredited BLM huckster narrative about "jogging while black" Once the news came out that Ahmaud was a certified insane criminal on probation for felony weapons and theft violations wanted for what should ultimately be a felony charge in the state of Georgia Oprah tucked in her wings and waddled off however by then it was too late because all the pearl-clutching white ladies on The View and that corpulent Dirtbag Whoopi Goldberg had picked up the story causing every tipsy wine mom to stay tuned for the next make up advertisement from their sponsors as they whipped up a ridiculous story about an innocent jogging young man targeted for the color of the skin by evil hateful rednecks in what would ultimately be a shockingly profitable fake media narrative about a neighborhood Whose actions were based on hate not on self-defense. They literally had to change the citizens arrest law before the trial in order to bias the jury against the McMichaels and of course the judge and jury were primarily concerned with personal survival thru the holiday season after seeing the Cavalcade of death threats come in against the HOMEOWNER who had done nothing more than call the police over and over and ask the neighborhood to help him catch the young black night creepers whose photos and video he had shared all over the Satilla Shores Facebook Network! The homeowner identified the wanted criminal not the McMichaels they simply RECOGNIZED him. How is it racist to pursue a black man you recognize as a wanted suspect 🤔😆 If the HOMEOWNER identified an overweight Korean they would have pursued an overweight Korean sprinting away from the crime scene in a panic...thats not 'racism" it's RECOGNITION 😅

Even if you were afraid he did, just let the guy in the truck keep a weapon for backup. Don't lead your citizen's arrest with a weapon, because violence can escalate fast. That was their big mistake. Once they pointed a weapon at Ahmaud, they were committing a felony (aggravated assault), and lost the right to legally use it in defense.

@@JaimeWarlock they did NOT: 👉 "chase him down"👈 this is why it's important for you to understand the intricacies of the legal system. The McMichaels rode alongside Ahmaud and simply spoke to him. Nobody threatened him with a gun, nobody ran him over with the truck, nobody even touched him. After a couple minutes of riding alongside him at 5 mph they simply let him run away because they weren't willing to use FORCE to stop him. The McMichaels then PARKED their truck at the intersection where the police would be entering the neighborhood so they could convey his last known position to the officers, a few minutes later the WANTED CRIMINAL ran up behind the McMichaels and tried to forcibly disarm them in an attempt to escape Justice. You people seem to believe that the McMichaels ran up on Ahmaud with guns drawn and that's why he's snatched at Travis's weapon but that's not even vaguely what happened In an identical scenario to Kyle Rittenhouse a good guy with a gun was STANDING STILL when a degenerate criminal ran toward them and tried to forcibly take their firearm Ahmaud Arberry had no right to try to grab Travis's shotgun as it was painfully obvious Travis had no intention to shoot because he had dozens of chances before the criminal grabbed his gun. The big difference between Jeffrey Rosenbaum and the wanted criminal Ahmaud Arberry was Oprah Winfrey who threw their considerable weight behind the wanted criminal when she did that her "run with Ahmad" Stunt however she was smart enough to back off quickly when she heard about the boys criminal background but by then it was too late and it already made it into the media as a victimhood narrative where every dramatic wine mom clutched her pearls believing a fake story about a neighborhood of "racists" who "gunned down" a little boy who happened to be jogging through their neighborhood while black😃

She really nailed it when she brought the fact that the defendants never claimed to be making a citizen's arrest until they got charged and got representation. In fact, her entire closing and rebuttal are sharp and on point. The case looks so tight that the defense has little other ammo than to be as disruptive as possible and hope for a prosecution miscue that will make one of their many mistrial motions finally stick. IMHO Greg McMichaels should bear the brunt of the responsibility for this unfortunate incident. He formed the posse, he directed the chase, and it was he who mislead his son and Bryan to think he had witnessed a crime and had the perp in his sites and needed help to bring him in. Their downfall was in trusting and believing that Greg McMichaels knew what he was talking about. Greg McMichaels apparently thought that this was still 1960s Glynn County, Georgia where a man could still administer justice in whatever way he saw fit. And now, old Greg may have condemned his own son (as well as his neighbor) to up to 20 years in prison hell. Because Greg is elderly and has multiple infirmaries, he'll get to stay in protective medical custody in prison. But his son will have to deal with the prison yard on his own. Even though I have little sympathy for these men, there's something really sad about the whole thing. And the man most responsible will likely suffer the least.

Just stunning. Ms Dunikoski's work was just amazing. When I watched her cross Travis McMurderer I didn't understand what she was up to. Over and over, she'd ask him a yes/no question. He wouldn't answer yes or no, but would waffle on, repeat his memorized "talking points". She wouldn't object. She'd write something he said on the flip chart. But never say why she did this. This means...ever at THAT point...she had figured out what Travis McMurderer would say, what the defenses would say in their closings, and she was writing down what the things that Travis was saying that would demolish the defenses and convict the 3 men. Brilliant.

We saw the crime, we saw the police response, we watch the public out cry, we saw corruption, we all viewed all of the trial,( we got to see things that the jury didn't), we got to witness a killer tell history, we got to look him in his eyes. We got to hear how some small town people think, then as in a live movie, we got to look in three killer's eyes to see the response that ALL of us had hope for Guilty. But we also got to see justice as the McMichaels sentence of life and Ruddy, he just doesn't know that was a real life sentence. And we found a gladiator and her team, Linda, you go girl! And in these most unstable time we were blessed to have such an Honorable Judge.

Travis lied throughout the entire cross examination by the prosecution. Travis said he went to the mailbox looked down the street seen his neighbor pointing down the street. That was the beginning of the big lie that he told his attorney under direct examination. Now he's lied again, he never even seen his neighbor Matt, he jumped in his truck him and his father and took off before their neighbor even crossed the street, and the video shows exactly when they pulled out of their driveway and when their neighbor raised his had after they had left with guns in pursuit of Ahmuad Arbery. No attorney in their right mind would have put a liar on the witness stand. They didn't even go over Travis McMichaels written statement, it was a total contradiction to the police report, and now we know that the DAs office was trying to cover this crime up, even with all the statements and video footage they never were arrested until the killers posted the videotape on social media, convicting all three of murder and possibly they'll be convicted of hate crimes against Ahmuad Arbery in the federal trial coming up, because he was Black, like hunting a wild animal even after they shot Ahmuad Arbery you see both father and son walking away with guns held in their hands like big game hunters, even using racially charged language in pursuit of Ahmuad Arbery even after he's laying on the ground bleeding out . You think Ahmuad Arbery heard their racial slurs as he takes his last breath. It's like the events of January sixth 2021 even with video footage from all those cameras they still don't see a crime being committed. It's just unbelievable in this new era of Trumpism, (don't believe what you see or hear, believe what I tell you, because my father is an ex law enforcement officer and we have the right to kill unarmed Black men and women because we know the law or we have connections in law enforcement that will believe us over them). Justice prevails and rightfully so that an all white jury with one Black woman found them guilty.. Americans all across America should be proud of those Jurors because they represent American Democracy and the constitutional rights of every American. 🇺🇸

This was murder cold blooded in broad daylight. That entire neighborhood knew what was going on that day up and down that street with all those tires screeching up and down that street on a quiet Sunday afternoon and then three blast from a shotgun blast and just a few residents even bothered to get involved with the McMichaels except those they had lied to who made themselves look like a fool once they got in that courtroom. He (Travis McMichael) should have been charged & convicted & should be given an extra imprisonment sentence of Perjury meaning that he Fibbed &/or Lied, Under Oath in Court & yes that perjury has been a crime as a criminal offence in any Court for too many decades for so many, many donkeys' years of the past and yes there are people who are still doing time in Prison/Jail for even committing perjury today right now and perjury is a very extremely criminal offence and the Courts (DON"T) take perjury very lightly at all of course.

Basically, the argument that Zimmerman was acting in self defense when he blatantly followed someone at night with a firearm because he looked suspicious. Then, he engages with Trayvon saying that he was attacked and beaten badly so he shot him. The wounds he sustained didn’t support that much use of force! Trayvon should have left after knocking Zimmerman down. Instead he tried to kill Zimmerman. At that point, his self-defense turned into an attempted murder. This gave Zimmerman the right to defend himself. There was a similar situation in a subway attack, where 3 girls tried to rob another girl. The girl pulled out a gun, shot two of them, the third ran off, the victim chased her down, then killed her too. Prosecutor said killing the first two girls was self-defense, but the last one was murder. Once the last girl tried to run away, she was not a threat anymore, so the robbery victim had no right to chase her down and kill her too. You can use deadly force to protect your life, but once that threat to your life ends, so does your right to use deadly force. The victim can become the criminal. Most juries will give you a few moments of overreacting, but at some point that ends.

Defense had absolutely nothing except for filing motions for mistrials every 10 minutes because the prosecution said the word 'and' instead of "if' and because Kevin Gauf sees preachers in the court and somebody was wearing a Black Lives Matter mask in the hallway🙄🙄😂😂😂...pathetic

This guys incriminated themselves all the way... Bryan's account of his participation was like a noose willingly placed round his own neck...of course their collective initial disposition was based on an unremitting sense of entitlement...

I wished she would have tried Trevon Martin case. This is the exactly the same thing that happen to him. Zimmerman was the aggressor and Trevon was just walking from a convenient store. He was avoiding Zimmerman until he approached him. Trevon was getting the best of him until he pulled out his gun

Unfortunately without a video , the victim is voiceless, if these numbnuts hadn't videotaped the killing we would have a live, lying Travis McMichael against a dead Ahmaud, just like with Trayvon. She was awesome though!
