After being admitted to practise as an Advocate, I felt I am not a lawyer. I would not have reached his standards. For that reason I decided to go back technical . I was hoping to hear "Before you even enter the office, how did you know that work ahead need adviser and chief of staff.

This speech was definitely written for him. Des cannot come up with such a speech

True Mr Van Rooyen. Many a times they vet those they want to sack. Those who don’t align with illegal issuing of tenders. I am saying this because I found myself in Centurion for lie detection out of the blue. I was the only Senior Manager who was instructed to do that. My colleagues who were involved in stuff, were never, ever sent for security issues until they left the Department. I confirm that vetting is not done to everybody in South Africa. Sitting here I will never forget the Department of Transport. But I survived. I was suspended 3 times. State Law advisers instructed me to return to my office as soon as possible. The issue was professionalism. Nobody wants that in our government. Senior Management is expected to sign anything. That will be over my dead body. I don’t append my signature in nonsense. I read first. I am trained to read before signing. I have retired now. I am considering writing a book about post liberation.

I think he imply that he never vetted the appointee because it was a norm not to do so! but he is not willing to admit it!

How did masuku and healey know that van rooyen was with saleh boardroom. He say that he did not invite them the came on their own. Only bobat was invited. Why not at luthuli house for the interview. Makes one think.

Corruption and the love for money destroys many ANC comrades except for the obvious lies and a bit of arrogance you can see that Des Van Rooyen is very intelligent he worked hard for his qualifications also but it all took a Gupta to bring him down. He reminds me of Brian Mokoena a very intelligent man also. Hats off to DCJ Zondo, you can see the fairness in him ✊🏽✊🏽

You go to Lethuli house just to call someone from Gupta family. And you drive to their house without appointment and you later tell us you did meet with the guy. This does not make sense at all

This Des van Rooyen is guilty of whatever he is being alleged to have done. No need to listen further in his opening remarks!

This guy (Hully) is very very arrogant! I don't know, It must be because of the cameras! The only wrong doing I can find so far is the recommendations of his advisor and appointment of the Chief of Staff without proper background check otherwise, there's no major irregularities, no evidence of state capture here but Mr Van Rooyen Made a huge mistake especially on the recommendations of his advisor as the minister of finance which is very sensitive, otherwise there's no strong evidence here of major wrong doing and also it was an incomplete process, they would have been verified in the more robust process and any malicious would have been identified.
