This is a cyclemaster motorised wheel fitted to a Phillips Delivery bicycle. It started up fine after it's winter (and spring and early summer) break. A clean of the plug, top up the oil and fresh fuel and off it went. Can't get the lights working (they did work last year), so there a can't be much wrong. Unusually it has it's V5 document and a nice registration number (most of these bikes seem to lose their documentation along the way). Built in Surrey by EMI, the Cyclemaster was designed in Holland by 2 German prisoners of war and the design was taken as part of war reparations. There are Dutch German and English versions. It will do about 15 miles an hour. For some reason the camera makes it seems a lot faster than it is!

My father-in-law owned this bike up to about the mid 1990's and recognised it by the early cycle headlight mounted on the front carrier and also the Ashley rear carrier-stand. The stand was never satisfactory and allowed the whole assembly to wobble. The Cyclemaster engine always ran very well, but I would advise the present owner not to flood the carb by pumping the stalk as the "choke" only opens a small jet and is not a pump. That said, an interesting discovery on KZread for my father-in-law.

I bought it in about 2009/10. I fitted the rear rack myself. I never really used it on the road, I sold it on summer 2013.

Love it. I have been interested in purchasing one of these for a while now. Any pointers on where to buy one??

ebay is your best bet. I sold it quite a while ago when funds were short!

You occasionally see them crop up in the Kempton Park autojumble. There is almost always one or more for sale at Bewley in September, but it could take you all weekend to go round that auto jumble.
What laws apply ? does it need insurance, mot ?

Its motorised so its the same laws as a moped 50cc
