I’m so envious! I started following you guys when you rehabbed Zephyr. But now that you’re on the St Johns, I’m really envious. I was in the Navy and my carrier was stationed at the mouth of the St Johns River in Mayport. While standing watch, I’d always imagine where the boats were going, what beautiful and peaceful destinations they were traveling to. That was many moons ago. Thank you for making these beautiful and informative videos. God speed, fair winds and following seas!

I started following your channel a couple of months ago. The search that brought me to your channel was "The Great Loop". I think the first videos I watched was when you bought Y-Not. I too dream of cruising the Great Loop. I live in Southeast Michigan and have never owned a boat.... I'm not sure how that even happens. I'm glad that you have shared your experience getting on the water and the steps that you took. Thank you!. Anyways, not only do I want to complete the Loop, I am interested in living on a boat, full time, in the near future. So after finding you two, I have watched your videos on "Staying Connected" while on Land or Sea. Thank you so much for your Live Streams, (although I watch them after the fact). Also, for talking to Captain Chris, whom I now follow, and Curtis Stokes (?), whose web site I have frequent often. I find those videos very helpful. Thanks again for sharing.

I learned how to fish and fished exclusively on the St John's River in the Satsuma area... In the 70's, the area was so raw and undeveloped it was an incredible experience I have yet to match... Snakes, Manatees, Gators, a Panther sighting and even a drunken report of a wild monkey. Lol and as far as the fish it was named the bass capital of the world however 2 hours of 2 person cane pole fishing would always yield 20-40 bluegill "keepers" almost every trip out(especially near the locks that Pres. Nixon had closed down) This is a fish story you can believe... Love that river and all the canals... Thanks for the video, cause for all these fond memories I share👍😊

When you get to Lake George, don't miss Salt Springs and Silver Glen Springs. You should be able to anchor in the inlet and spend time snorkeling. These are major springs, much larger than Green Cove Springs. Speaking of which, on the way back, Corkey Bells seafood is a great place to dine on the water in GCS, FL.

This is great y’all! What a fun time. I found your blog online. I see where you cruised from Lake Saint George to Sanford Florida down the Saint John river. How was that trip as far as width of the river? Depth of the river? Was there any part that you thought this is a little sketchy? Because they’re making it sound online that you can only cruise from Sanford Florida down to the ocean where it comes in? Then I found yawls blog and I was like no these people cruised it😂 also if you could tell me how long did it take to get from the Saint George lake down the river to Sanford Florida. I have just bought a piece of property in the Ponderosa right there at Silver Glen Springs. So I would like to travel down the Saint John river to Cocoa Florida. I’m trying to figure out if that’s possible? I mean on a regular basis as of late I know it’s possible😢It seems like it is? My favorite restaurant is the lone cabbage restaurant in cocoa beach plus airboat rides!!! That’s where I want to get to lol. Also I see you brought your cat lol. Yes Banx our cat would have to become a boat traveler😮

Only as far south as Sanford is considered navigable by a boat of our size. We've not been any further south than that. Some say they go further south when the water is high enough, but we've not attempted it. The stretch between Lake George to Sanford is our favorite, absolutely amazing cruising and nothing to be concerned about (when not at flood stage and closed, as it is now). We've done it multiple times.. it can be done in a day, but we prefer to take a week and enjoy the amazing anchorages.

@@Technomadia Thank you for all this information. I know I cannot wait to spend some time on the Saint John River. We are from Beaufort South Carolina. I had no idea that the st. George lake was brackish😂 I knew that there were blue crabs at Salt Springs but I didn’t get any more involved in my head than that😂 So it is very interesting that that area has freshwater lakes and also brackish lakes that you can catch blue crab and shrimp. That is amazing! I’m glad I found this out before I bought lakefront property. Because for right now we just bought a half acre lot that I am going to do a ton of agriculture on. But in the future I was looking at larger lots down there on the lake.
