I am from Melbourne, Australia ..... My father bought me a brand new Mazda 626 sedan in Prestige Silver Metallic colour, back in 1990 when l was 18 years old. He paid $32,000 Australian dollars for it back then! Fully imported from Japan. The car is my daily driver and is now 32 years old, has clocked over 500,000km ( over 310,000 miles!!!!!!!!!!). Has never failed me and still looks, drives and feels like new. It is beyond unbelievable, people cannot believe it ... and l will never ever part with it. I STILL drive it EVERY DAY! I LOVE IT! I have religiously and without fail taken it for servicing every 6 months for its entire 32 years and have ALWAYS ensured oil and filter change every 6 months! BEST CAR EVER! And so smoothe. It even has the very famous oscillating vents!!! Love the nostalgia and it is very sentimental to me. Warm regards from Melbourne. 🇭🇲

In New Zealand we had the option of European or Australian specification when these were sold new. I own a European trim GT sedan with a factory steel sunroof which is rusted similarly to this one, however the rest is fine. Mine has the 2.0 16 Valve with 5 speed manual, cruise control, full electrics etc. Only problem I've ever had, over the course of about 50,000kms of ownership, was with the wiring which was altered when the previous owner decided to save money by bypassing power steering electronics instead of replacing them. It's at 325,000kms and still going very well. A comfortable, capable and good looking car, especially with the front and rear spoiler and rear window louvers.

I have the sister car, a metallic black kiwi new 1988 Ford Telstar TX5, lowered on black and chrome 17"s, Remus muffler, sub and amp custom interior with a.SVO/ TopTown bodykit and rear louver - its a replica of the SVO Telstar concept car South Auckland Motors did back then. Always get thumbs up looks and comments. She's a one of one. It lacks some of the tech of the Mazda's (4ws, cruise control). 109 Kw FE dohc 16 valve and factory 5 speed car, aftermarket sunroof. Still has the shell high octane 96 leaded fuel sticker in the fuel flap!. Well into the 300,000's km wise now. Occasionally driven around Auckland, hope to take it to Cars n Coffee and to Hamilton for 4 n Rotor when its on. Not to display but just to cruise, Christmas day I last drove it, long since retired from daily duties. Its due a good long drive, last serviced on its birthday - December the 20th. Love them both the 626 and TX5 they drive exceptionally well, even now given their age, there's nearly none of them around. As we say in Norway, the "steelworm" will eat these in the end. The mechanics are usually bulletproof, but the rust eats them slowly away. My dad had one of these in 1989-1992. A 2,0i-16 with 140 HP in the hatchback style with a rear spoiler in red color. He traded it in with a 1992 626 V6 which I found to be quite superior to this car. Better looks, better engine and better handling. The 2,5i V6 was quite peppy and a really nice engine.

It started so quickly and everything seems to work perfectly. It is a shame that it’s so rusty underneath but I think that can be fixed if u replace every single part of the frame very carefully Update: here in Nanaimo BC there is a old truck at a abandoned house at 205 Fifth St. It has been sitting there for 15 years and it looks ok although nature has pretty much taken over the back of it. But if u have time to travel here I’m sure u can ask the owners if u can take it.

I remember my grandpa had this exact same car with a with a lighter shade of silver but then he passed away 10 years ago and my uncle's sold it. It can be still seen driving with the original hubcaps but I think the paint is different.
Fantastic video. Thank you For Sharing. Have a Good Day!❤👍
We had a Mazda 626 2.2i station wagon from 1989. The original engine made over 750.000 km! A lot of long journeys, but the car had no problems!
Rust monster has devoured this one pretty good.Motor sounds pretty good

MAZDA +ISUZU =POWER
As we say in Norway, the "steelworm" will eat these in the end. The mechanics are usually bulletproof, but the rust eats them slowly away. My dad had one of these in 1989-1992. A 2,0i-16 with 140 HP in the hatchback style with a rear spoiler in red color. He traded it in with a 1992 626 V6 which I found to be quite superior to this car. Better looks, better engine and better handling. The 2,5i V6 was quite peppy and a really nice engine.

I had a 1993 626 lx with the 2.0l and a automatic. At 136k the transmission failed and every repair center wanted nearly 2k to rebuild the transmission. Ended up trading it in for a brand new 2008 Toyota Tundra TRD edition 4wd pick-up
Engine is good, Sound is good, video start with airpressure scene...very good!!!!
Переходка 🔥
only the rust was killing this Mazda model
Love the 626 that's by far the worst rot I've ever seen on anything you have brought back from the dead 😀
do you ever get a car that's the opposite: not rotten, but engine completely cactus (cracked block, rod knock or something)

I had a 2001 626 2.0. That thing drove amazingly despite nearly 200k on the clock. Sadly it was quite rusty 😞

Old mazda are so beautiful and good car. In Poland was many mazda diesel in a 80 th.

Mazda 626 ...just same category like bmw 5 series , merz E class , the 323 like bmw 3 series, merz c class , and the 929 like bmw 7 series and merz S class ...is a good car at one moment ...only the Japanese car , engine compart include absorbers mounting , under carriage , door under and under bumber won't last long .
nice ankle kit
At 11:18 look at the front right suspension, you can see the spring🤣 good old Mazda
Good engine, still sounds great but I don't think Mazdas are quite so resistant to rust, even much newer ones can still get bad like this! The Escort estate was worse I think. Anyway, another great video!

Mazda really know how to build bullet proof motor, but unfortunately their body are prone to rust especially for the 80' and 90' era.. even the NC Miata some rust appear. But definetely great brand 👍🏻 I enjoy everyday driving my ND Miata !
Best motors made ❤❤ mazda

These FE and F2 engines will work forever. There is reason why these engines was also used in industrial applications. Too bad they have no power.
