When Fiat decided to settle in Brazil to produce the 147, he summoned Lampredi to develop the engine to be used here. The 147, which was released in Brazil in September 1976, was based on the 127, which appeared in 1971 in Italy. In Italy it used a 903 cm³ 4-cylinder engine, of old design, with three-bearing crankshaft and lateral valve timing, which developed 47 hp (net power, as all in this text) at 6,200 rpm and torque (idem) of 6.4 m·kgf at 3,500 rpm. There are those who guarantee that this engine is basically the same as the ASA 1000 GT, from 1962. ASA (Autocostruzioni Societá per Azioni) bought the design of an affordable small Ferrari that Enzo Ferrari intended to produce, but the commander gave up. It was a 1,032-cm³ double camshaft engine that developed 96.5 hp at 7,000 rpm. Therefore, the 147 would have the "heart" of Ferrari. Enzo Ferrari was so fond of the "Ferrarina" (short for Ferrari, as the international press called it) that he used it for about a year. The Brazilian version of the car was a re-styling of the 127, which would also be launched in Italy in 1977, but keeping the Italian name of 127. The engine designed by Lampredi was a 4-cylinder 1,049 cm³, with camshaft in the head. by timing belt. The shoulders acted directly on inverted cup tappets, with inserts to adjust the clearance. It had a diameter of 76 mm and a stroke of 57.8 mm. By choosing connecting rods 130 mm long, Lampredi, who had already worked for Ferrari, showed that he was not very well intentioned: With an r/l ratio of just 0.22, the engine was born without fear of turning high..

I had one like that. The gear linkage bushes used to wear out and cause excess play in the gear stick. It got so bad the gearstick was touching the side of the seat when trying to select reverse. I repaired it by making bushes out of tin cans. They usually lasted about 3 months before needing to be done again. Excellent car for their time.

I love seeing these old Cars brought back to life.👍👍❤️
You were very respectful to the old girl in your prep 👍👍👍👍👍 Wonderful little motor.
This was my firet car when i lived in Limerick city,Ireland. It never left me down, but windsreen leaked and bulbs kept blowing. At the time, was going to buy a FIAT 124 but didnt...regretted it after
Love this video! A proper way to start a car after an over a decade of sitting. Oil changed and everything. Too many videos they just put a new battery in and try to crank it forever. Lovely 127, hope you will put it back on the road.

I agree, care and fresh fluids. I'm about to get a car running after sitting for 30 years, helps that it's been in a dry garage but still going to change the oil and sparkplugs to give it the best chance at running.
I love this Car my Brother drove this Car 1983.
This car was manufactured in Brazil under the name Fiat 147. A great nightmare for mechanics. A car with little durability, as its structure deteriorated quickly.

My Dad had one of these same colour as well. What I remember most was the massive gear stick it was huge, and sometimes sticking and not going into reverse gear. Other than that it was a great little runner, and never gave engine trouble at all.

My 1971 Model 128 had a hand throttle and a hand choke. It kind of surprises me that they were still using these as late as 1979!

LOVE YOUR WORK. My first car, 127cl.
I Love all 127. One of better small car, ever
I’ve been riding in a Fiat 127 like the one in the video but it was white if I remember correctly borrowed from my uncle. Well it will not win any beauty contests or it’s not exactly the most comfortable long road trip car I’ve ridden in but the most exiting one because I never knew what was going wrong next on it. the fuel pump gave up and me and my dad had to fix it out on the Argentinian bush. Wonderful little car I thought they’re all scraped but not this old little girl. Mega video.
I worked at a Fiat dealership in the era. They weren't fast, but handled really well. Everything else was typical Fiat.
My first car when got my driver's license was a 1980 version like this but in white.
Ensimmäinen fiat 127 valmistui vuonna 1971 ja päättyi vuonna 1984
У меня точно такой Fiat-127 spesial 1976 года , я реставрировал его больше года, классный автомобильчик!

Good video. In Spain, this car was made by Seat, under licence Fiat (1972 until 1983) before the Seat adquisition for VW group. The spanish equivallent is the Seat 127 restyling (second generation), 1977 produced until 1981. The last spanish restyling (Seat 127 third generation) was named 127 Fura, only in Spain. Greetings.
