I'm a 30 year SWFL resident! Tip 1: Water, water everywhere. We have to be ultra-aware of flooding from all the rain and low elevation, so there are many small 'lakes' in the area that are actually holding ponds for runoff from rainwater. Building codes actually require a certain amount of this runoff area for every paved area built, which is why you will see apartment complexes with a lake in the middle, or a small one adjacent to a bank or shopping center. Don't forget the canals as well, they are everywhere, especially in Cape Coral of course. People love living close to the water even if it isn't a beach! Good luck building my hometown! 🤓

I spent a lot of time down in the Ft. Myers. I don't think CS2 has an algorithm to match the amount of crazy that's down there.

I live in central Florida and I travel all over the state. What you said with the roads being scary is so true. One thing you should add is lots of lakes and water retention ponds because Florida is at sea level we need these bodies of water to prevent flooding during the strong storms during the summer. Lots of Florida also has canals running alone roads, I do not know if the area you are building in would have them but its a idea.

I LOVE THIS!!! I'm from Tampa originally so this is my neck of the woods. I don't play CS2 (never bought it, I play the original CS) but I'll definitely keep watching. One idea I had. Florida is home to many Major League Baseball teams during Spring Training. What happens is teams play their preseason practices and games down here to avoid the cold weather in most of the other markets during February and March. So they have mini-stadiums (like 8-12k seats) where they play their preseason games. Most teams have their own stadiums (the Nationals and Astros share, also the Marlins and Cardinals share, everyone else has their own), and there's even some older stadiums that no longer are used by a team but still do other events (Al Lang Stadium in St. Petersburg is a good example. It's historic and it's hosted multiple MLB teams. Now it hosts a USL Soccer team and can't host baseball anymore). Once they leave, most of the stadiums are used by their Minor League team, to form the Florida State League. In the region you mentioned, Bradenton has the Pittsburgh Pirates (with their FSL team, the Bradenton Marauders), Sarasota has the Baltimore Orioles, North Port has the Atlanta Braves, Port Charlotte has the Tampa Bay Rays, and Ft. Myers has both the Boston Red Sox and the Minnesota Twins (with their FSL team, the Ft. Myers Mighty Muscles). I think Gasparilla could host an MLB spring training team, but be warned it will take much more land than just a stadium since they need practice fields and other facilities.

Empty lots exist everywhere. It's so rare for cities to have every block built on. Even if it was formerly occupied, there should be empty bits.

We have a summer house in this area, would be cool to include one of the many state parks located at the rivers. Maybe a place like Babcock Ranch which is a so called "master planned" community.

Cape Coral would be a very interested place to recreate in cities skylines 2. It’s a man made canal city where every inch is basically made to be a waterfront. I think I watched a documentary video once that explain the many infrastructure issues that are there due to the massive amount of interconnected canals/waterfront properties

Really cool, I'll admit! I might not live anywhere near Southwest Florida, but I think the region is quite interesting. Maybe not so much the vast suburban sprawl, but rather other aspects of the region. It's definitely more laid back that somewhere like Miami; just take a look at places like Sanibel Island. Some of those barrier islands look primed to take some inspiration from places like Sanibel, Captiva, and Fort Myers Beach. I heard that the vibe of FMB has changed somewhat since Hurricane Ian, losing some of its more laid-back vibes in favor of something more "gentrified" so-to-speak. Fun fact: my favorite women's clothing brand, White House Black Market, is based in SWFL! WHBM is a sister brand of, and is owned by, the Sanibel-founded Chico's. That said, WHBM actually started in Baltimore, MD; Chico's bought them out 21 years ago.

29:07 Despite being quite American, these towns usually don't have a ton of parking, and any they have is paid lots, no street parking so it is more pedestrian friendly. They will have a local bus service though, especially along the coast. Locals don't use them but the tourists use them to get around instead of renting a car

Ooo... nice map. For your tide simulation... ahem... check your Border Sea Source height. It should throw a white contour line at what it has its "sea level" set to. If you've added other sources then check you haven't got any constant level sources sitting below that sea level as they'll just drain the water away.

Living on the Atlantic side of Florida on the Space Coast. With every neighborhood, add a lake/pond for realism. This is done to make the ground more solid to build on down here, since it's largely marshland and bogs. And a lot of food industry, not just farms, but processing (as well as tech industry and flight, so add an airport). When they get space/rocket industry in the game, add that, as Cape Canaveral, FL was and is one of the main launch places, and is home to NASA and Space Force. Lastly, make sure your downtown is on the river coast, and your beach area is on the little island with a causeway (bridge with sidewalk) attaching it. They are everywhere. Also, it's all over Florida news the past two years, but there's a major passenger rail line being established connecting several of the major cities, called Brightline, starting in Orlando. Maybe incorporate that.

I find Tampa to be the best city to consider for the town center and other things. Tampa has Busch Gardens theme park, 1 of every type of city district (Industry, Port, Leisure, Low-Income, High-Density, Commercials, etc.), and have proximity to St. Petersburg (Also a good template), Clearwater (best beach in America period), and the Rural areas of Riverview, Zephyrhills, and Land-o-Lakes (We got budder, we got wadder, we livin good!). The Tri-County region is a microcosm of Greater Florida, and the Sunshine Skyway is Iconic! You can do alot with what that region has going on!

Hello from SRQ! Excited to watch this progress. Sadly, FL is terrible about environmental things, esp related to the disposal of sewage. We very frequently have "accidental" leaks of raw sewage directly into our waterways on the west coast. This, coupled with the runoff from the agriculture in the middle of the state, leads to water i generally refuse to swim in (esp rivers), and yearly red tide blooms that are THE WORST thing i have ever smelled. I only write this part to bring awareness to it... and so people stop moving here XD Some COOL things to include: St Armands Cricle Freedom factory Lots of luxury condos and homes UTC/shopping mall area

I grew up in Sarasota county down in north port, if you need inspiration for sprawl I would definitely check out north port for inspiration as well as look at how they have they schools set up. There’s a lot of canals that run through north port so there’s lots of bridges and pedestrian bridges to get kids to and from school by walking. Was a great area to grow up in. It’s about 45 minutes north of fort myers and 30 minutes away from Arcadia
