We’ve used an Unverferth zone builder for 12 years, hopefully buying a Gladiator this month. Nice job with the video!

Next time you are shopping for fert, look at incorporating a carbon source in your dry blend. Fastest way to build soil health and quick yield responses

Curious how you like the wavy coulter on front of your row units instead of the flat coulter that comes from factory? Makes sense to me to have a wavy coulter in front to shatter the ground ahead of a shank or in your case coulter blades. Also wondering what size the front coulter blades are, look smaller than the factory 25 inch flat coulters. Thanks!

Can you provide some detail on your rolling baskets or where you sourced them? I have a gladiator with the loose chain style rolling baskets and I have never seen the solid bar style like yours on a gladiator. Thanks.

I had the chain baskets as well. I took the chains off, cut the tabs off the edges of the baskets, bent some half inch rod and welded it in the grooves where the chains would normally go.

@@DIYFarmstead yes, works great especially if you have wet conditions. Plus it eliminates the need to replace chains.

In the spring we can go shallower with discs and not bring up cool wet soil like we would with shanks.

@@clobenstine This is my first year with strip Till. It has not worked well. Corn has less growth than traditional tillage. I have used STRIP cat 2 with stem, a pass before planting.... What is your advice.?. Thanks a lot.

@@lorenzomendozaalos1365 Fall or spring strip till? I just try to get a nice smooth black strip and plant right over top of it. It's also important to have a good blend of fertility in the strip

@@clobenstine The strip is made in spring only 2 days before planting. Fertilization of the whole field I still haven't used only in the band. But the corn grows faster with traditional tillage, I do not know why .....

@@lorenzomendozaalos1365 the corn grows faster in the traditional tillage because you are incorporating the fertilizer so it is in the root zone, whereas in your strip till the fertilizer is laying on the surface and the corn cannot use it because it is not in the root zone. If you band the fertilizer directly in your strip, that should make a big difference.

I found a guy on ag talk who is making coulter shanks for gladiators. Maybe try to search for them in the classifieds on ag talk.
