I saw something I would like to create as a 3D model and in this video I'll cover the steps I took and the tools used for the process. Hope it is helpful!

Hi, do you make 3D images for people? I just started crafting, and I dont have a 3D printer as of yet. And I watched your video, and I know I'll have to watch it again to learn this program. But for now, I need a 3D image of a logo that I have a picture of. I'm so lost in this area of crafting. Thank you

Very cool, I'm trying to do this but I'm stuck at how to make the "backing plate" to fill the holes in blender. Any suggestions on this? Or should I fill it in, in inkscape for example and extrude the parts and paths I want separately?

I remember having a similar issue with a thin backing to hold the shapes together. It took some experimentation, but I went with your latter suggestion of starting with this as a thick flat piece and extruding the parts to the heights that I wanted. Best of luck and thanks for watching!

Excellent video, nicely explained, and it seems easy to do, but I have a problem, I made a 3d model of a fish in fusion 360, and now I would like to extract the fish scale from the image, that's how I came across your video and I understand that part so that I can open the 2d in 3d, now I don't know how to put the fish scale on my 3d model, I can't find a tutorial that would explain the process to me, do you have any advice, any words are welcome, thanks

I haven’t but that is a great idea. PLA is so heat sensitive you’d have to be working with something cool or maybe use ABS which is slightly more resistant. Curious to hear how this works out.

YOu an actually make alpha iz zbrush and then smooth it or dynamesh to make those edges nicer. Also it might be even better to put the image in illustrator and use auto trace to get straight vector lines, then from that create alpha.

That sounds great! I don't have those apps but there is likely something similar with other open source ones. Thanks for the tips!
