Start Drawing: PART 1 - Outlines, Edges, Shading
Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль
In this art tutorial video I'll show beginners to drawing how to draw by learning basic techniques in a step by step approach. In Part 1 I explain how to hold the pencil to create different effects, how to create outlines and edges and I also show how with basic shading you can make an object look very realistic. This video is part of a series on how to draw and was filmed on a Nikon D7100 camera.

hi paul i think you should continue with this series,its awesome.im going to start practising some of the techniques taught here.
Best intro to drawing I've seen and I have watched many!! No messing around he gets straight to it. Draw what he draws as you get good practice and you can experience the difference between using edges, outlines and shading 'properly'.

This guy is jus so inconceivably better than my art teachers who told me to "just draw" like: how do you play basketball? After seeing hundreds of videos, I can confidently say that Paul's teaching style is the best. He has unique ability to hand hold and take the novice learner along with him on to the learning journey. I was looking for a artist who is also a great teacher. Paul literally opens up the mechanics of drawing from the basics. No fluff, straight dive into to the drawing. Its like seeing the piece of the video, pause, practice what Paul says and then move to the next part. Thanks a bunch Paul for all your efforts in making these lovely tutorial videos for beginners.

This is such a great tutorial. I remember years ago my frustration after I drew what I felt was an amazing still life drawing in an art class I was taking. As the teacher walked around she looked at mine and said "Oh how wonderful! Now just get rid of the lines." and walked off. She offered no explanation as to how I was to do this and figuring it out for myself was so difficult. I thought to myself, "How can I get rid of the lines? It's how you can tell the drawing is there!" I wish she had been able to offer me an explanation as clear and concise as yours. Now that my son wants to learn drawing I'm definitely subscribing to your channel, as I am not a teacher.

@PaulPriestleyart

gus kings You have to take advantage of the hand shakes. You simply create a different type of line to other people, which makes your lines unique. Celebrate that. Andy Warhol used to draw on wet paper with an ink pen to create blotched lines because he wanted to be different. If he can do it .... Good luck with your drawing. Cheers Paul
