Join us for what we know so far about this upcoming Dish - what else is different? What is anticipated performance? When might it be available? What will the router be? Will it be 12v powered?

I retired May 31, and no longer "need" my Starlink Gen 2. I literally just sold it today! I am FT Class A RV static right now (since Jan 2017!), but as I wind down my time here in CenTex to go mobile in my dotage, this is a great option moving ahead. Thanks for the update!

I think this will still be too hefty and power hungry for most backpackers to want to carry. But the upcoming satellite text messaging capabilities to regular smartphones will be a huge safety boon for backpacking!

More likely at launch the Mini will need its own plan, but perhaps cheaper. We'll have to see if Starlink comes up with on option of allowing multiple hardware on the same plan even if you can only use one at a time. Many people would probably take advantage of having both the Mini & the Standard Dish if they could have one plan to use them on.

Yep I personally would like to see this also. I would love to have the Mini setup for keeping on the roof of my RV for travel days or take with me on excursions away from the RV, but use my Gen 3 for normal day to day activities and those times I don't mind the higher power usage. I'd certainly not want to maintain two separate plans to accomplish that either.

Regular RV Starlink service often gets 1/3rd or less of advertised MB per second on the east coast, so reducing to half as the max, would have minimal effect on the user experience to ‘Easties’.

We would anticipate that the performance will continue to be proportional - and low priority data plans (like Mobile) will see even less performance.
