Great video, thanks! The only bit I’m unsure about, is reasons for choosing between the router or the access point at the ‘camera’ end? We have a small granny flat I’m thinking about.

Hi, that is a good question. Really it is personal choice. A router like the EG105GW(T) will give you not only wireless but also ethernet. Since it has a power pack you also don't need to get a PoE adpater for it, it works out at pretty much the same price, but gives the extra features. I hope this helps a little more.

When I add my Ruijie exterior WAP to my starlink via the Ethernet adaptor. What settings do I change to seemlessly to have 1x wifi network that devices will move between? A video of completing the set up (settings) of the Ruijie and Starlink settings showing this would be very informative.

Good question. Add the WAP to the Ruijie control panel. They go in to Wifi Settings / Add new Wifi if adding for the first time on the mobile app and set the SSID and password to match what you have set in the Starlink App and all will then be seemless. I hope this helps

I’m completely uneducated on this but need to learn. Do you know how many kilometers these bridge units will transmit? I need to connect a pressure switch and alarm somehow to one of these and transmit a signal back to the starlink. Then will connect to something that will call multiple phones if the alarm is triggered which right now is a data logger connected to copper phone lines. Each location is about 800 meters apart do you think they will transmit that far?

A Ruijie EST350 pair will connect up to about 5km. You will then need to loop out to a wireless access point so your devices can connect at that location and you will need power there as well. If you need to go further then look at Ubiquiti devices which can run up 10km+

We currently have separate DSL service in each of two buildings at our church, about 500 feet apart. A third building has been constructed recently between the two. We want to put a Starlink dish on that in-between building and send it to the two outer buildings using wireless bridges (probably Ubiquiti). To split the output of the Starlink ethernet adapter to feed the two sending devices, do I need a managed switch or a router? I assume that the receiving bridge devices will be connected to the WAN ports of the routers in the two outer buildings. Is that correct? Thanks for the great videos! Edit: This is for internet access only in the two buildings. We do not need devices in one building to communicate with those in the other.

Hey, great to hear from you. You just need any old switch to "split" the Starlink ethernet adapter. A managed switch like the Ubiquiti USW-lite-8-poe could be a good option if you already have Ubiquiti access points, or the UISP-S if you are just using Ubiquiti bridges. Yes the WAN ports will be connected to the Bridge LAN ports in each building. I hope this helps further.

@@The_Tech_Geeks I have this set up now with the Starlink router in Bypass mode, connected to a managed TP-Link switch. The two sending radios are connected to the switch as well. I'm getting internet on the router in one building but not on the other one. Should I not have put the Starlink router in Bypass?

This will depend on what and how you have set up your routers. You mention you have a router in one building that works. If they are true routers you will have an issue if they are on the same subnet as each other as they won’t route. So if you have Starlink in bypass and using a router it would go. Starlink Ethernet adapter to router. Router to switch. Switch to bridge. Then access point at the remote site or a router that has been reconfigured to not give out the same lan ip via dhcp. I hope this helps.

@@The_Tech_Geeks The only routers are in the two outer buildings where the bridge receivers are. The router on which the internet is working is a UDM SE and the other is a consumer-grade TP-Link. They are not on the same subnet. There is no router in the center building (the one with the dish on the roof). The Starlink router there is set to Bypass, and connects to the switch, which in turn is connected to the two NanoBeams that transmit to the two outer buildings. So instead of "Starlink Ethernet adapter to router, router to switch, switch to bridge," it is "Starlink Ethernet adapter to switch, switch to bridge." If there needs to be a router between the ethernet adapter and the switch, then I wonder whether I should simply do a factory reset and get the Starlink back in normal mode. Thanks so much!

I have a router in the basement and used a Starlink mesh node to extend the network upstairs, but I need it to extend 60m from the house into a metal building. By splitting the network I have signal outside, but not inside. Do I need a bridge network or an extender or a third party mesh system? Which one could I use wireless?

Great question. Since you a metal building, you really need to go for a wireless bridge. Metal aborbs wireless so a standard mesh or extender really won't work. I would look at something like the Ruijie EST310 2 Pack for the Bridge or maybe use 2 x Ubiquiti Loco5AC as another option. I hope this helps

I have an Asus DSL-AC55U and an rp68 and given the issues I've had trying to navigate the settings I'm glad you're smiling because this whole setup is giving me a panic attack. Does it really have to be this complicated? I've had failures to hook up the router as a repeater and with the router/repeater and repeater by itself. All I can tell is Asus doesn't play nice with starlink.

Sorry to hear about that. I have not had masses of experience with ASUS, so I can't really comment on the setup, but it sounds like it was not easy.

That is a good question. With the Ubiquiti nanobeams you can use the UISP app and connect via wireless to each device to configure it and set them up (not all models) We find it better to do it using a web browser and log in to each device and configure. There is no option like on the Ruijie though I am afraid.

This video could have been 20x shorter and you’d have better audience retention for it. When editing, if you can take out a clip without completely disrupting the entire message. Cut it.
