I'm due to be travelling to Kenya in a week and just applied for a Starling Card but still had questions on whether I've made the right choice. This video has helped massively as there's not many vids covering these questions! Thank you so much!

Starling is definitely the best option if you are in a country that still relies on cash as you have unlimited free ATM withdrawals. The exchange rate is generally as good as you will get too, only Revolut (during weekdays) and Wise will give you better rates most of the time, but they have limits for free ATM withdrawals.

@@LookingAfterYourPennies when doing my research I noticed a lot of people saying “revolt stole my money” “Monzo stole my money” my question is… do starling freeze cards randomly? I’m going abroad (Spain) and will be putting my travel money in my starling account. Thanks

It’s a pity there isn’t a feature like Revolut to exchange your money to know exactly what you have in the foreign currency. Hopefully they can add that soon.

Starling is a fully regulated UK current account with deposit protection so you will not see this feature, although they still offer a Euro account from the pre-Brexit days. Revolut is not a bank, it is basically a money exchange/transfer service, like Wise, which is why they can both offer accounts in different currencies, but your money has no deposit protection.

I just spoke to starling bank and they said that if I travel out of the UK for more than six months they can close my account down is that true?

I have travelled for longer the 6 months out of the UK and had no problems but maybe things have changed. Starling themselves would be the best source of information so I'd advise contacting them again to clarify the details. Their online chat system is pretty good for questions.
