I like the organization with the shapes . Makes it a lot easier also you can take a picture and check off each shape as you drill the holes and glue the fibers

I’m currently working on mine & am using 1/16th inch drill bit & it sounds like I’ll be alright from others I’ve talked to when it comes to glueing time. Mines got 1,100 stars along with 10 shooting stars or basically another 120 strands/stars. 1,220 strands in all basically 😅

That’s going to be awesome! I don’t envy you having to do that many lol. Most I’ve done was 700 or 750 on a charger. Haven’t done the shooting star ones yet but definitely want to.

Yeah it is very tedious. Simple but does require a few hours and then you have the removal and install of the headliner with a mess of fiber optics lol. So worth it in the end though!

Where would u recommend stretchy headliner

Where did you put the central unit? it will heat up and I want to find a suitable spot...

I have a Gr86. I’m wondering where you installed the light projector. Some say they do it above the driver/passenger head mirror but those are for the smaller light projectors. My size is relatively the same as yours in the video and it’s obviously too big to go there, where did you put yours?

This is the one I used in the video a.co/d/20tK5xR I’ve also used the azimom brand. Pretty sure they are exactly the same manufacturer. We’ve had it in our FRS for a few years now with no issues. The light motor is a little bulky but that is the only gripe I have with it. Spend the extra couple bucks and get one that has the twinkle effect. So worth it!

Are these rough to the touch when installed? Mean like if you were to stretch in the car and move your hand along the liner.

It’s all on how clean your cuts are when you clip all the excess. If you cut at an angle, they’ll be sharp and you’ll probably feel them. I use a nail clipper and push a little bit into the foam and it’s smooth unless you push against the headliner and rub. Depends on your headliner too. Some just have fabric and others have foam backed fabric. That will make a difference too. If you end up doing one of these you’ll find a good process on trimming them. Any that you still feel, just go back and clip a tiny bit more.

Hey man, so I’m tempting in getting these starlights for my headliner but I have some concerns about it, so I have a Ford Taurus SEL wagon type, so Idk how much I would really need for the whole back to front of my car, as yk a wagon is long, second concern is that my headliner isn’t black and I don’t want to change if senes it’s the same color as the interior but is it going to look worse or better with a cream color. Thankssssss!!!! If u can answer these appr it 👏🏼

Sorry for the late response! More is always better when it comes to these. It’s more of a pain to manage all the little fiber optic cables but you’ll be happy you did in the end. It’s going to look better with a black background but I don’t think it would look bad with the cream interior. If you’re already going to have the headliner out and spending the time to do it, if it were me I would just buy some cheap black or dark grey suede and redo the headliner while it’s out. If you do, make sure to get fabric that has a foam backing and is stretchy. If it doesn’t stretch it can be a b!+

Depends on how baller you want to go. If you want kind of a generic suede with a foam backing go to Amazon otherwise what I would recommend for the best quality and ease of install would be a foam back suede that specifically states that it’s stretchable. A lot of the material out there does not have any elasticity which makes it difficult when doing a headliner with a lot of curves. The headliner that we used in the FRS is super nice and stretchy and we got it off of Amazon. It was around $150 for enough material to do the headliner with about a foot of excess material.

This one came with creases but once the material was laid flat, they were pretty much not noticeable. That’s where spending more money also helps. They put more time into packaging. The one for the FRS was rolled up and in a big tube. This one was folded up and in a shipping bag. I don’t 100% remember but it was the smallest one I had. You don’t want to go much larger than the cables because it’ll be easier for them to pull out as you’re working. I would test it out on an edge of the headliner that is tucked behind trim to see if you have a good size.

How’s it holding up? Any problems you’ve noticed?

This is in a friends car and it’s still working great. I also installed the exact same one in our FRS a couple years ago and it has worked flawlessly since then. No guarantee that every single kit will be the same but from my experience, I have no complaints.

We run or own vinyl wrap shop and I have done them for anywhere from $500-$800 for a starlight kit depending on the vehicle and how many lights they want. The suede headliner was extra since this was for a 1st gen talon and all that was left was old foam. I’m not sure how much other shops charge but I would assume they are a bit more expensive since we try to offer our services at a more affordable/attainable price point. If you are wanting to DIY something like this here are the basics of what you’ll need. Basic tools to remove headliner Starlight kit Hot glue gun/glue sticks Drill/drill bit Pen/marker You can diy it for about $200 and give or take 8 hours of your time.

It’s just a hard squeegee for vinyl wrapping. Too hard for that but great for this purpose lol. The foam was very old and brittle. If you have foam that is harder to remove, I’d use a wire brush or wire wheel on a drill.

375. It was for an eagle talon so a pretty small headliner. I think we did 500 in our FRS and 700 in a friends Charger. More is better in my opinion.

Hey man I love how this looks and I’m planning on doing this to my own 2007 Pontiac Grand Prix but I have a sun roof, any suggestions on how I can go about doing it with a sun roof

Same process. The difference will be before you hot glue or however you decide to secure the strands. Make sure you have enough length on the ones around the sunroof cutout to have them go around it. Then I would use tape to hold them in place and more flat to the headliner. Start at the front of the headliner and work your way back and segregate a handful of strands as you go otherwise it can become a tangled mess by the time you are done. Let me know if you have questions as you go and I’ll help you out as best I can. Good luck!

probably not because it goes through the headliner and convertibles just have the convertible cover not a headliner but im sure theres some way you can get this on one

No offense but I dont think your headliner is going to last long. You didnt spray nearly as much adhesive as you should've. Keep that car out of the sun

Non taken, it’s good advice. We live in northern mn so it’s not as big of an issue even with the humidity here. 4 years in our FRS and still holding strong.
