Starlapse - May 12th, 2024 Lake Erie - Insta360 X3 left overnight

There are two main ways to create a starlapse with your Insta360 X3 camera: using the automatic Starlapse mode or manually setting the camera for a timelapse.
Automatic Starlapse Mode:
Turn on your X3 and swipe down on the screen to enter the shortcut menu. Turn off the camera indicator light to avoid affecting your image.
Tap the lower left corner of the screen to switch shooting modes and select "P0 Starlapse."
Since you'll be shooting for a long time (ideally 4-6 hours), connect your X3 to a power bank to avoid running out of battery.
Tap the shutter button to start shooting and again to stop. The camera will handle the rest.
Manual Starlapse Mode:
This method offers more control over your final product. Connect your X3 to your phone and open the Insta360 app.
Click on the camera icon and scroll to "Starlapse." Then, choose "Manual Mode" (indicated by an "M").
Here you can adjust settings like shutter speed (recommended 30 seconds), ISO (around 1000), and white balance (5500K is a good starting point).
Similar to automatic mode, connect your X3 to a power bank and place it on a tripod or stable surface.
Use the app to start and stop recording.
Additional Tips:
Find a location with minimal light pollution for the best results.
Use a tripod for stability and to ensure your camera stays pointed in the same direction throughout the night.
Consider using a remote control to start and stop recording to minimize camera shake.
After capturing your footage, you can edit it in the Insta360 app or transfer it to your computer for further editing.
