I created a MIDI file that you can use with Synthesia to learn to play this song. Unfortunately, I couldn't figure out how to preserve the sustain pedal information, so you'll still have to figure that out on your own, but otherwise, all the note data is there.

I found this cover when I was 15 and I can recall every single instance I put this on in the background as I made vision boards each year since then. I’m turning 24 this year and I come back to this piece yearly as a way to check in and say hello to my past selves- the ones that were heartbroken, angsty, excited, hopeful, and determined- all of them live here with this piece. I remember being so moved by this at 15 and still, to this day, it will never fail to make me teary-eyed. There is so much love and hope that I feel each time I listen to this that is unmatched by almost every other song. The joyful determination in the beginning, the nearly heart-wrenching way that the slower, quieter parts when you play up the octave tug at the heart, the trepidation in the build up, and the euphoria of the payoff in the end will never fail to move me. So much has changed in my life, as I’m sure yours has, and it has not been change that has happened without grief. So much has changed but, my god, I am so grateful to have always had this piece to come back to again and again. I have envisioned lifetimes in this piece, have grieved and loved to this piece, have shown loved ones new, old, and ones that are no longer in my life this piece and I have described time and again how important this song is to me in an unfathomably foundational way. This year, I’m practicing to tell people the kind things I keep to myself out of fear that I’ll come across as too much. I figured leaving a comment to thank you for the work you’ve done, one that has given me so much love and joy and hope and comfort throughout the years, is as good of a place to start. So, thank you for your work and the love you so clearly poured into it. I will be listening to this, truly, forever.

hey, man. I've read some of the comments so I understand that you apparently got invested in life, making time for other things than music. I'm really really glad for you and I hope everything goes well for you. On the other hand, I also want to thank you for this amazing piece of work right here. Astral Observatory has always had this strange nostalgic feeling for me. When I was a kid, I could spend hours just standing in the observatory in MM, just to take in this amazing melody. The thing is, you took it and transformed it from a mere synthetic sound loop to an actual amazing piece for piano. Right now, this has to be my favorite zelda rendition of all time. I stumbled onto this video recently when I was in need of healing and closure and your music really helped me. Man, just know that you're really talented; your work has the power to do all sort of things to people. Thanks again. (Also I hate you for not having released more Zelda reworks.

I was filled with nostalgia the first time I listened to this, and each time I come back to it, the feeling is stronger. It made me realize that this song has been a part of different phases in my life, both good and bad. I look back to the person I used to be then with joy because of how much I've grown, but it also makes me sad remembering the people and places that have become nothing but a memory for me. It is scary to imagine how my future will look, who will stay, who won't, where I'll be, but I'm still hopeful about it. I hope to be in a better place next time I revisit this song so I can look at my present self with pride because of how far I got. I know it will be bittersweet as always though. Thank you so much for this beautiful piece, which many of us hold close to our hearts. ❤

This song was recommended to me 7 years ago soon after starting uni, it is amazing. I have always come back throughout the years to listen to this piece because of the range of emotions it lets me feel. Whatever feeling I would like to take from this song, I am able to: nostalgia, melancholy, sadness, hope, happiness, love... I have now been working 2 years, uni seems like forever ago and the time that passes between "listens" to this song start getting longer and longer... Life goes by faster, becomes more complicated and I use my youtube favourites less and less. I find myself with less moments where I stumble upon this song, remember the absolute masterpiece it is, and take 6 minutes to enjoy all the emotions this song brings me. But the longer and longer time I take between listens, the more emotions I feel when I do find it again, and the more I am able to take out from listening to this song. I am certain I will keep coming back throughout the years, maybe more, maybe less. I know that this song will continue to emphasise some of my happy moments, will continue to help me through some of my rough times, or sometimes simply make me wonder wtf is life, while it entertains me for 6 minutes on a quiet rainy night like today. I hope things are going great for you Mark, and if they aren't, I hope you can at least sit with the rest of us for 6 minutes to take a moment to enjoy the beautiful peace you have created. Much love brother

I was originally going to comment this on my original comment, but decided to create a new one to hopefully let more people see. ... It's hard to believe that I first found this four years ago. So much has happened since then, and so much has changed, yet this song remains the same. It's a reflection of both how fast time moves, and how far I've come. For four years straight now, this song has nearly always been with me, through music changes and changes in life. I turn to this song when I need to calm down from a fight, want to go to sleep, or just need to cry. It’s almost become natural at this point for me to go onto my Spotify, find “Stargazing” and play the song through my headphones. I’ve listened to this version so much, in fact, that any other version of Astral Observatory sounds like it’s trying to mimic this. I don’t know why, but this is the “true version” of Astral Observatory for me. The best example is comparing it to Theophany’s version, and while it is ethereal and encompassing, doesn’t give me the same emotion as Mark of Two’s does. It's hard to describe the emotions this song is able to make me feel; emotions that have not changed since first listening to it 2017/2018. It almost always makes me cry; out of hope for the future, and out of sadness of the past. The way he plays this piece just… pierces right through my heart. I don’t think I can think of one instance where I didn’t even sniffle a little while listening to this (regardless of if I was sad or not). I've almost all but moved on from Zelda - appreciating it still but not as devoted as I once was - but its music, and especially this song, will always stick with me.

You might have moved on from making music, but we have not moved on from your music. All the music you’ve made here was incredible, and if you ever choose to try again we will embrace you with wide open arms. Mark of Two - you are something very very special. The talent you have is extremely unique, and not everyone has the capability or potential to arrange the way that you do. I see you're on indefinite hiatus, and it breaks my heart. My only hope is that you are happy and very well. Thank you so much for this arrangement. The astral observatory is such a unique piece and your arrangement straddles the line between majesty and impending doom so poignantly you can feel it in your breath. A personal favorite LoZ theme of mine that often gets overlooked is blessed to be revisited by you with such love and care. Thank you again Mark of Two ❤

This piece… it is what made me learn piano. It is the most emotionally and melodically charged thing I have ever heard. With layers of sound, discord and harmony, ups and downs, it makes me feel wonderfully small and vulnerable in the greatest way. I would like to commend you for your compositional skills, my friend. I shall be listening to your work for a long time.

in case there's not enough comments on this video already: This song is like a drug. I more that often refer to it as "the most beautiful song I've ever heard" and I stand by that.I try not to overplay it so as to conserve that feeling but honestly it's so hard because literally no other piece of music has ever had an effect like this on me before. It's so emotional, so raw, it's like a whole person's life is unfolding every time I hear it. Thank you for this seriously.

So thank you, thank you so much for making something so beautiful; and for helping me through some really dark times
