I was very lucky to pick up a pair of Canon 15x50 image stabilising binoculars secondhand immaculate for less than a third of the price. The stability is incredible far far better than my small 10x50 roof prisms, I no longer use my 15x70 either which obviously require a tripod. If one can afford them image stabilising is exceptional

I know this is old but those are quite large and heavy. Holding them still, especially with the 25x zoom will be difficult unless you use them with a mount and tripod. If you use a tripod then go for the larger ones but if not I think smaller is best. Lower magnification will be better for free hand held usage

Very informative, great video, congrats from Greece. I am about to buy binoculars for observing the stars at all and i am thinking of buying the nikon 11-22 x 50. Should I prefer the nikon or olympus 10 x 50?I live in an urban area with a bit of light pollution and i have a manfroto tripod which i want to use. Should i go for a telescope better?I want to stargaze with my childs aged 4 the older one. Any other suggestion at that budget?

@@tubeysr Thanks for your reply. Unfortunately I have not bought yet the binoculars. I borrowed a pair of 20x50 named sikla from a friend but I can not say that i liked the experience. Probably because it is too low budget and quality, actually they were 10 x 50 I think due to the fact that the field of view were 119m/1000m which stands for the 10 x 50 binoculars. Nevertheless I want to buy the nikon 10x50 as I hope that i am going to have a tottaly better experience with the good quality lens ang exit pupil of 5 which offers enough light.

i agree. that wasn' t very informative. i have 8x40s and compared them to my brother- in- laws'. the difference wasn't enough to worry about. yes, his showed 2x closer, but when you're looking at things many light years off they're still far away. my 40mm lenses actually showed a bit wider view and gathered about the same light. still scratching my head about that. i bought my nikons used off ebay for USD$50 + USD$15 for shipping and they bring me happiness. i DID buy an adapter for USD$15 to mount the binos on my tripod. it does it's job well. but, guess what? you still have to tilt your head back. google 'binocular chair' images. you can recline and some have a shelf to rest your elbows on. some are basically modified aluminum lawn chairs, but there are fancier ones. you do need to tilt your whole body back some to avoid neck pain. to quote the late jack horkheimer, 'keep looking up!'

No, because: (1) their exit window is only 2.5 mm, which makes it hard to keep holding the binoculars in position for the brightest view, & (2) a magnification of 20x really needs a tripod because nobody can hold binoculars steady enough at such a big magnification.

From what I have been gathering; I believe that a telescope of pretty any amount that you would like to achieve; can be realized with a absolute pristine in terms of flawless in accuracy; which could be created while viewing through and ....so on and on... . I once thought that; Hey!!!? (of course this was after giving it thought for a long; 10 seconds; most likely; (I don't remember how long; but that's how long everyone should have had taken them after trying a magnifying glass as children and then giving this thought as adults) to notice that if we use two identical lenses and with a most possible of a strait light source like the sun; that one glass could reduce the light and the second glass would restore it to being a strait light source again; if placed beyond the crossing point of the redirected beam as it now might should be referred to as( then again; in essence; all that has occurred; refraction would be my first guess of associated term; whatever term; this action upon this drawing of section is but an event; that only the other side of the magnifying glass('/es') workings; just as same as would be if not "interrupted"; in other words that I should be steering a logical states of changes; if "energy" draw within visibles and perhaps as well non of presence as well may just as may not; keep a stabled charge; being such as depressed stated perhaps that any attempt types of measuring; loses sights of changes where perhaps might be due to differences that aren't existing between energy level that exists everywhere and solids and no matter what matter; has within itselves; equal of space that matter isn't present....I'll continue later if I'm inquired to; I've more relevant subjects to ponder on.Cheers and oh; this is what I initially meant to say; what if we would use microscopes back to back and if there isn't enough "pixels " resolution unless a giant lens covers a large space because of dissipating of connectivity areas because of the distances of what is attempted to be viewed; then many small ones that are positioned like reverse pixels that output of video becomes surface of many collective controlled .... like a giant digital camera... LOL designated a 4k smartphone cam on each area and away you go with playback upon a display module of same phone for each and you got your own kick ass theater that does what you couldn't. Anyways.....LOL this is fun and now I'll watch your video and thanks buddy for giving me something to rant on and give thoughts to and all you dude(s)(tt(s)) that read this to the end; and those two magnifying glass things; they would go back to strait and you can output the size that you wish. Don't try that in someone's eye. LOL

Lol when i first bought telescope then i thought would have been better to get a binocular. So ended up getting a binocular after that. Now i have got 2 binoculars and a telescope and looking to get another big telescope soon sometime in future. But they both have their own charm. A good binocular is always better than a cheap telescope. I think you have a decent size bino if you get a good tripod with that then you can see a lot with that too and if you want a telescope then get a big one from beginning otherwise you will be left disappointed when you see the heavens with a small cheap one.
