I have Beryllium, Aluminum, Helium-3, Alkanes, Iron and Water all in one outpost on Linnaeus IV-b in the Linnaeus system. I did it after doing exactly what this guy is talking about in regards to "split biomes". Took me around 45 minutes to an hour to finally get all those resources in the range of my outpost relay after loading and saving a bunch of time to procedurally generate new maps. Happy wandering around biomes, takes some patience. 7:13

i tried doing that till I gave up I think with the Alkanes as every time I tried to do the spit biome thing I always manage to do it on the darkside of the planet so I can see shit which is how I got so lost on that planet. Seriously why is it always dark

@@WytookenI don't think this will help as all LZs are randomly generated, however you want to target intersection of biomes hills (or mountains from this vid) with craters. Craters have He3, Al, Be, etc. and hill/mountain has Fe and Alkanes. Water seems to kinda be everywhere ime, but also don't know why water matters yet personally.

Quick tip: in each resource field put one container in the center of the field and connect the extractors to it then connect that one’s output to the stacks of containers. That way you can repoint the entire resource fields output by changing the one box and its easier to see what’s going because you don’t have tons of redlines everywhere.

I wouldn't use exactly the center. If you circle the extractors along the edge most the times you can place one or two extractor in the middle. Let's say...put it somewhere where it won't disturb the mining operation.

I appreciate your content. Especially the tip on finding the seam of the different terrains. I have multiple outposts on seams and have found the seam using your method with one additional bit. When selecting the spot i make sure it's left/right or up/down for the two biomes. If i land on the left (planet west) i open my map and then head east (right). Same goes for up (north) and down (south). Some of the seams are crazy. Also, the quarter missing on outposts has been a pirate "Ship Landing" location for me everytime. At first I was mad about it. Now I steal ships from at least one of them. 😂

at roughly 4:15, the blueish-grey area is the mountains while the reddish one is the crater's biom. Yes, it is confusing as under "normal" circumstances red would indicate a rusty area which usually means iron must be there, but this game has a different logic

If you go to modify mode (the one were you can connect stuff) you can also edit some habitats walls for example you can put more windows. You walk to a wall, if it's editable it will highlight. It's the same button you use for putting staff in build mode. Actually many habitats have windows but not by default.

They need a similar function on ships. If your near a ship technician and on your ship, you can go to 'ship edit mode' like outpost mode and then edit hatches and walls and ladders to turn off and on entrances. Would really help and shouldn't cost anything, as these events don't cost at the technician either. Interface is already in place with outpost editing. As long as a path is maintained from cockpit to docker/ramp, you should be free to add as much or little as you like.

Great video, I'm over 100 hours in and learned a lot from it. It would be nice to make an actual colony outpost like the ones you see throughout the game. Should be able to build stores and make settlers man them, that way you'd be selling excess resources and have constant income, maybe be able to put stuff in a specific trading container. Would be cool to make a trading hub where random npcs will land and walk in , and possibly give you business opportunities. I'm sure Bethesda has a whole outpost expansion planned if not it would be a good mod idea

Thanks for sharing, I’m a XGP user, Another outpost BUG was found. My outpost management skill has reached the full level which means I can built up to 6 cargo link (even tier 1), but once you pass unity and restart the game, you are back to default 3 cargo links only, same for robots and crew members 😂.

Rename your outposts based on the resources that are being farmed there. Makes it easier to see which is which on the interlink console

I got super lucky on Andraphon finding a spot that (barely) has Aluminum, He-3, Iron, Beryllium, AND Europium! Although the buildable space got slightly infringed, since another tip I haven't seen mentioned is that NPC landmark locations have a (200? 300? meter) radius exclusion zone where you can't build anything, and there was a cave nearby that cut a chunk into my outpost zone. Since I built my outpost with a little trial-and-error before I saw this video (lots of people doing guides, eventually recommendeds pointed me here- gotta say, good one!), I got a little confused on how the feeding connections work (it's worth noting that it seems they only feed in the direction you connect them, so the order matters), and didn't realize that they only move materials around, and don't just create a shared-access pool like I was expecting (so I had connections leading to the cargo link and transfer container, and got very confused when the materials I put into the storage containers immediately disappeared as soon as I backed away). I was hoping for more of a "shared pool" like I was expecting based on Fallout 4, so I could access all stored materials at my crafting benches without carrying them around on me or my ship until I could get the insane funds for an insane class-C cargo ship. Biggest let-down of the game so far IMO, that the resource sharing is FAR more limited than in F4, which means storing and accessing materials is a lot more work, and I'm perpetually over-encumbered since materials are so dang heavy. (It's a good thing I found a backpack with Assisted Carry, which reduces O2 drain when over-encumbered by 75%, so manageable, but no thruster slot on it D:). Also, not sure if there's a way to hook up cargo container contents to crafting tables, or only your ship... Also, I should mention, since I ran out of copper somehow (I could've sworn I'd had enough on me), I tried using a couple fueled reactors for power since I had a He-3 deposit, but annoyingly, the reactors use up He-3 far faster than the extractors produce, so they're useless unless you have a huge field where you could drop 5 extractors to feed a couple reactors (also'd need some He-3 on hand in order to start the generators to begin pumping), or have progressed enough for an industrial-sized extractor (but by then you probably have better options for power, such as just doing solar)

You only need to physically pickup resources for crafting if you are moving those resources to another planet. Any resource in your outpost is accessible from anywhere in your outpost, including your ship's cargo bay, if your ship is in your outpost.

Great Video. Just to add to this, getting money in this game is very easy so you can pretty much buy recourses you need to start you with your base etc. . This is for people that don’t like building. When you progress in the game you will be able to buy apartments and you do get a free apartment as part of a quest. If you don’t want the base at all you dont really need it but I do suggest having a small base just store all your contraband items and weapons.

This is why its hard to find the spots with iron and aluminium together. It was confusing to me at first but everyone always says to looks for "mountains/hills" and "craters". However, the mountains/hills you should look for are the white/silver looking ones. I keeping running into the red ones thinking they were the same. The landing spot is tricky.

Once I find the two resources, I'll take off the scanner on the planet and find a gradient between a crater building up into a mountain and make the landing spot there.

FYI you only get mixed biomes when landing from orbit. Selecting a new landing zone while on the surface and fast traveling to it will only generate a single biome, you have to take off in your ship if you wanna try for another mixed biome.

Could just be RNG being RNG, game hasn't been out long enough to actually test that, and we tend to see patterns where there aren't any. All that aside, we all have our rituals when dealing with RNG, and it does feel pretty good when your's works out, even if it's still just RNG. How many times can I say RNG in one comment? Sheesh...

There are a few better worlds to start on. I tend to use Bessel III-B. I currently have an outpost that produces Aluminum, cobalt, iron, nickel and water. There is a chance to get platinum as well but I got tired of looking. This set up lets you make unlimited credits and exp from crafting components very early in the game.

From what I noticed. It seems Cargo Link inter systems bug out when you have more than one in a solar system. It'll pop an error saying "Link space is currently busy or something" You'd probably have to build a Inter system on helium planets & connect all the resources to that planet with regular Cargo links as a Center Hub for that solar system & send resources out that way.
