Stardust NightClub Demolition Tour

Since the summer of 2018, the Stardust Nightclub, situated at 248 E Schellenger Avenue in Wildwood, New Jersey, has been vacant and deserted after shutting down.
The Stardust Nightclub, which opened its doors in 1963, swiftly became a popular destination for locals and tourists alike. Known for its lively atmosphere and vibrant music, the club was a hotspot for young people looking to let their hair down and have a great time.
Well, as of Friday, April 28, the Stardust nightclub is now a part of the Wildwood history.
We stopped by film the demolition of the building. Here is a tour.

I remember the summer of 1960, several of my friends in Wildwood were on the boardwalk . Chubby Checker was enjoying the action on the boardwalk when a crowd asked him to do the "twist". As he started to sing,, "Come on baby let's do the twist", everyone in the area was dancing to the twist. Fun times back then. It wasn't unusual to see celebrities on the boardwalk or beach. I saw many of them including Frank Sinatra Jr.

Now all that's left are the memories. Too much change in such a short time. The Wildwood I remember is gone. Hopefully, I will be too, soon.

Not the Wildwood I grew up going to as a young man, in the 60's and 70's but now I am an old man, and I seldom go down anymore. Change comes to everything eventually.

Spent many summer nights during the 90's at the Stardust, listening to the band Magnum. I followed Magnum from the original Playpen in Diamond Beach to the Stardust. Great times, great memories. Stardust, like the original Playpen were great clubs, featuring both a live music room and also an room with a DJ. Sad that all of the great live music clubs, that have history, are now gone in Wildwood. Yea, I know there are still places with live music, but the old clubs just had that live music vibe that places today, do not have.

I was there a few times as a young man. Now I’m 61. Between being 61, and my drunkenness during my teens thru early 20s, I don’t recall much of it.

I'm shocked they didn't remove the leftover signage & sconces with the lights , those would have made for some great wall art .

During the summer of 1969, my parents took me to a hotel owned by bandleader Louis Dacri. We stayed there that summer while my musician father played trumpet at the StarDust. He met Ray Charles there. My mom told me that Dacri's hotel was next door to the StarDust but I am not sure. I think the hotel was in Wildwood Crest. I had just turned 5 years old when we went down there and this experience was lifetime memories. My father died in 1989. In July 2023, my mother died. After her funeral, I went to Wildwood and stayed overnight to feel the vibe of my parents loving me when I had them as a child. I just found your video and feel the loss all over again. The Stardust was torn down three months before my mother was taken from me.

I miss Neil’s steakhouse. My wife and I had plenty of good meals there over the years. It went downhill the last year or so and switched to BBQ before closing. The Stardust looked rundown before Neil’s closed. If you read the stardust reviews, several pointed that it had a really bad smell before it closed.

My first visit to Wildwood was 1985 at 8 years old. We stayed at the Landmark. I remember looking over at the Stardust wondering what it was. I don't remember anyone walking in or out of the place at that time.

You mentioned the old Neil's Colleens. We had some good meals there years ago but we stopped there year before they closed ( think 2016 ). Took awhile to be seated because they were very short staffed. They had one person seating you, bringing salads & drinks etc. We walked out after only get a glass of water while halve a hour. The night club outside looks like they have not spent a penny on paint or upkeep in ages. We never visited the night clubs in center of Wildwood but visited the old Cozy Morlies in North Wildwood

As one commenter said surprised didn’t save signage as well. They sure are going demolition crazy down there. As long as they make it nice whatever they plan to do.

I know that Morey's have been using the lot in between Stardust and Colleen's as employee parking ever since they redid the lots between Schellenger and Oak so maybe it's a Morey's project or related to the motel

This is a general statement, not one in particular about Stardust: as someone who lives in north Jersey and has seen the "development" and "progress" out of control here, it has really ruined it. The same is starting to happen in Wildwood. Be warned.

I went in that place a long time ago I think 2005ish and the place was like stepping foot back into the 70's the place was so dated and even then it smelled really bad inside..I couldnt wait for that place to go..Another reason why it must have smelled really terrible there was a elevator in the building so the shaft probably had something to do with it and the building was extremely old..

Probably going to add more over priced hotels or condos. Losing all the things to do in wildwood to development.

What a shame worked @ the Rainbow in the early 80’s. Rainbow, Penalty Box, London Ale House, Fairview, Shamrock, AS Playpen, Hurricane East, Oasis, Quo Vadis, Martinique all Gone. 70’s and early 80’s were truly WILD….! The BLOCK THAT ROCKED!!!!!!!! Dude making this video is clueless as to what made these places so much fun back in the day!!!! Sure what WW needs is more condos 🤮
