Alright, Here's some of the best advice I'll ever give on the internet. get 3 fishponds. Put midnight carp in one, flounders in the second, and midnight squid in the third. Keep 10 coal and a river jelly for the midnight carp, keep 3 coral and a sea jelly for the flounders, and keep 3 corals, 2 sea urchins (It's either option for the first quest), 2 sardines and an ocean stone for the midnight squids. This is how you're going to get seafoam pudding which gives a nifty +4 fishing level. Easiest way to get an ocean stone is from the frozen geodes which are pretty common on floors 40-80, so just keep an ocean stone handy when you get one. Once the fish ponds reach 10 fish, you can fish one of the fish out and they'll repopulate the pond every couple of days, but you don't need to fish the midnight squid out of the fish pond, you just need the squid ink from them. Flounders take 2 days to reproduce and midnight carp take 3, but that means between the 3 fishponds you're getting everything you need to cook seafoam pudding, and since you only need to hit level 9 fishing to get the recipe, it's not like you even need to wait for the queen of the sauce or get the recipe from some quest. It doesn't even have to be that painful to get to level 9 fishing either, Dish of the Sea is also pretty good, giving you +3 fishing level and only needing 2 sardines (Which are already super easy to catch considering you can fish them in spring, fall and winter...) and hashbrowns. Grow yourself a sunflower patch and a potato patch and you're golden, though it can be a pain to gather the materials for oil makers, so you can buy oil from Pierre instead for 200g if you don't want the hassle. You can get the hashbrown recipe from the Queen of the Sauce on Spring 14th or you can buy it from Gus at the saloon if you missed the Queen of the Sauce. I don't remember how much it is but I don't think it was too expensive. 60g or something I think. Deluxe bait is also super worth it. it's only 25g if you buy normal bait from Willy and have moss on hand, and the recipe is unlocked pretty early, at level 4 fishing, and it increases the size of your fishing bar, AND it decreases the time it takes for fish to bite. Big wins in my opinion. Once you hit level 7 fishing and get the Iridium fishing rod, buy yourself some cork bobbers, or craft them if you have the spare wood, hardwood and slime, though all that's pretty easy to get if you semi-regularly run through the secret woods, and you should always have a tree farm going. trust me when I say, combining a Dish of the Sea, deluxe bait, and a cork bobber makes your life SO much easier when fishing your way up the levels. I know all this because I personally dislike the fishing mini-game. I know that some people really like it, and I get it, I ain't hating on it or the people who like it, but it isn't for me. I find it painful, so how I fish when I have to? I like having seafoam pudding going, the Advanced Iridium Rod going with deluxe bait and 2 cork bobbers. Makes the fishing mini-game so much easier, and vastly less stressful when your green bar is over half the fishing bar

I had the scorpion carp challenge at the desert festival. Perfect luck. Brand-new advanced iridium fishing rod with a trap bobber and a barbed hook. And I did not get a SINGLE SCORPION CARP ON THE LINE.

I completely feel your pain. Fishing in general really isn't a problem for me (it's easy for me) but one of the only fish I find difficulty actually reeling in is the scorpion carp. Man that pattern SUCKS

It's the desert festival midway through spring, you can get pretty great free buffs for SC there! When you are ready for a run, just choose rare fruit and uncomfortably hot sauce. What makes it even better is the fact that the buffs stack with normal food and drink buffs!

@@oBuLLzEyEo1013 You have to try to constantly keep the green bar behind the fish icon until the meter fills up (which means you've caught the fish). You move the green bar by pressing/holding the button on your controller/mouse, but it's sometimes extremely sluggish to move and doesn't keep up with the fish icon. A few fish, like this one, bob and weave around so much it's hard to do that without specialised floats, bait, and/or higher levels in the Fishing skill. I abhor the minigame, and don't care if people see it as cheating to mod it out.
