Great series, so exciting. This kind of SC2 is the best to watch, fast players making ballsy moves. Both of them are so goooood. Love the 3rd game outcome that was amazing. I was rooting for sOs the whole time bit seeing Maru pull that off was impressive!

This was one of the best series I've seen in a long time. Truly a joy to watch such great starcraft. (And this is from a zerg player no less)

I remember first watching Maru in 2014 when he went up against Hero. Man it's so good to see him doing well! When in doubt, pull the boys!

Maybe one of the best series I've ever watched. The way neither of them have any fear is so inspirational. With his back against the wall playing to stave off elimination, SoS was STILL willing to gamble everything on a Void Ray / shield battery rush and somehow tricks Maru into failing to scout it. That kind of loss is so devastating. But then, for Maru to pull it together in Game 5 after suffering such a demoralizing loss is also unreal. I almost can't believe Maru didn't hold anything back and threw it all into some well-timed counter attacks. It takes amazing mental fortitude to be able to avoid playing it safe in a game 5. And they are right: Maru's micro is on another level. Ridiculous play on both sides.

What a match up two of the sc gods in my opinion

49:57 guys, can someone please explain how Maru could complete 2marines here while supply blocked? I'm not playing SC2, but love watching it and not sure how it's possible. Cheers

Janos TechUK the marines had already started building before the supply block. Sc won't ever pause a building unit, even if you become supply blocked into the Stone Age. it either keeps going or you can cancel it yourself. It's not like other rts games in this way. As for why there were two marines, that's what the reactor add-on does: allows two queues simultaneously. Hopes this helped.

I'm no player for sure, but as a spectator watching this, it really seemed like Maru had about 2-3 scans for every DT SoS could make...which also makes the raven OP. Just straight up from 5 minutes on you have the interference on immortals, free detection and the armour bomb thing. Don't get me wrong, I don't dislike Terran (only Zerg lol), I'm just giving a spectator only view of why people may think there are imbalance problems.

1) anti-armor will be effective as long as they can deal damage to enemies health bar. If they can't, it's nothing change. That's why only Maru could use this unit so well. 2) when you said how op the raven is, why don't you look back at the high-templar? It does AoE damage directly with psionic-storm. It can disappear all of an opponent-unit's energy and deal damage directly as much as the energy of opponent had. Ghost only can do 100 and only do damage to the plasma-shield. 3) Raven isn't mass unit. As long as terran couldn't go into the very late game ( 3 base saturated, control the half of map, set a lot of static defenses), terran have no point to make raven more than two.

I’m new to this entire Starcraft type of game and it isn’t super accessible, so I’m trying to wrap my mind around it. Would it be fair to say that this game is a bit like that old flash game, Age of War 2? There’re different units, resources that build units, and an enemy base to destroy, and instead of a flat play area it’s a literal map, and different factions one can choose from. Anything else I should keep track of?

SC is probably the most complex yet easy to learn RTS out there. It's very accessible if you actually play the game as the units are introduced individually. I can see how difficult it would be to learn the game from just watching pros like this. I would suggest reading the actual game site for unit descriptions, or if you have time go download SC1, the full game is now free to play and it's 70% the same (obviously just a lot older). SC1 is still an amazing game tbh.

Sos gave up on last match. Didn't even micro the 3 Oracles and just gave up. Maru is amazing for sure.

In the IEM replays, Maru has over 400APM vs 250APM Protoss. It's just so difficult to beat protoss unless you're massively outplaying them, even then you can only get an inch every mile you put out. Insanely frustrating. Maru missed the scout on the proxy/hidden pylon in 2 games and it could literally be anything coming out from Protoss from voidray/oracle/dt/blink all in to just a normal macro game.

Omg Maru scout the most important proxy spot last......:S

Third game sos could have won so easily by maybe flanking Maru from behind with that army from the north east , instead of tunneling both armies into that choke point .

Because it's mobility is so powerful? A warp prism can land units anywhere on the map. A pylon can be an insta warp for 8+ units in a few seconds.

I’ve watched since gsl season 1 and these guys did not age well. Tasteless, Rotterdam, SoS... etc. Maru is still young so good for him.

Also, I'm not a bad player, but I think since Maru is a God at this game, Terran isn't getting fair nerfs or upgrades to make matchups fair for them. Like, late game against Protoss is an auto lose for them with carriers and voidrays and such. It takes 4 marines to kill a zealot, there are just so many bad match ups between Terran and Protoss units. If Maru wasn't so good at this, the game would be more balanced than it is right now.

Seems Thierry Henry's also commenting SC2 now... 😂

It feels DTs are useless against terran: early scout possibility denies pretty much every DT build. I do not say they are a bad unit, it is just so situationable that it`s not a better strategy than blink or storm or else.

max okolot they have their uses when games get really spread out and there are multiple fights happening. Also there are games where terrains run out of scans (or orbitals) and dt's end up deciding the game.

sc2 is a joke. in game 3, if Maru is able to win while behind by just going all in with SCV just goes to show how imbalanced this game is. lol. he doesn't need to claw his way back slowly into the game and find some advantages here and there... nope, just go all in with SCVs while behind. gg. easy game, easy life

Allin7days should it be called characteristic? Actually, cheese strategies aren't for newbies player (diamond and below). They need a lot of fundaments, knowledges and precise skill in this game. Not only sOs but also many protoss players.

You're missing the point. It's a valid strategy for a time to time, but SOS does it all the time. Besides, I was talking about the professional players who play with such players. How come professional players don't scout when they play with this type of players?

Allin7days I'm so sorry for my bad reading. 1) they're in the same team aka Jinair Green Wing. They know each other so well. 2) Because he predict all of posibility which could be happen in each map (at least, the worst case). So he won't scout with scv for gather more mineral.

Terran is still op, always has detection, their army always runs faster, they always have healing and they always have tech for mobiler detection... terran is pretty much immune to any quick death. If someone else fights the terran bio directly for like 10 seconds their army is dead and its GG, if the Terran fucks up and loses all of his units he just rebuilds and is fine. Every drop into the terran base gets instantly wiped out if there is a few stimmed infantry there.... whereas a full medivac can fight a huge amount of units. + has speed boosters to easily get away. The reason terrans are bad is because they are all incompetent. Every " best player ever" is always a terran, because terran is the most broken, and if you play them optimally you are invincible and automatically win every game vs Zerg and Protoss, so good terrans have a 66+% win rate for free.

And when zerg lose all their units and you run across the map to kill them,if they have a bit of cash and larva, their army is back when your reach their base. The same Iunary said could be used to talk about any of the 3 races :p

one AAM hits half the entire army for half its health (a quarter of the entire army's health) and also makes it 3x easier to kill. He would not have won despite all those other things without the completely imba Raven.
