Except make microbial shroud look like the sucker award it is. Libs would be forced to pull out against infested terran beneath them, though tanks or any ground to speak of would counter, they taking long time to pop. Ravens alone hard countered everything worse than ghosts before the seek\mine redunancy patch, now they counter microbial shroud along with everything else, p should just storm it. Neural is deadly to capital units on the other hand, and in lower numbers, but there really is no hard counter to ghost other than mass lingbling lucky fung w\chained overseer.

@@jessewilson7415 No, it does just increase. Armor-Damage scales linearly, and does not exceed 3 point either way. So, it's ~20%-30%. In an even game, most likely exactly 25%.

It does seem to be the most significant change to come out of the balance patch. Ghost nerf? Fake news. Cyclones? Only viable at Platinum league. But the bane double nerf, and the lack of a widow mine nerf, have really set the tone for the last eight months of pro-level play, both in TvZ and PvZ.

The microbial shroud damage reduction is calculated at the input damage, before the armor. So, it should be something like "(90 dmg / 2 (microbial)) - (3 armor (- 2 aam))", (90/2)-(3-2)= 45 - 1 = 44 dmg with microbial shroud and antiarmour missile... when you test it without aam, the first hit leave the hydra with 48, meaning the liberator deals 45 dmg though microbial shroud less the 3 points of the hydra's armor

Feels like other races are finally figuring out that they have more than one unit comp. Terrans adding in Vikings/ravens against Zerg and Protoss going higher worker count more zealots reynor style. Might be a rough year for Zerg after the consistent nerfs

Its been a while since terran players have started adding a few vikings to snipe Vipers when zerg players had little to no anti air available or when they wanted to kill those pesky overlords/overseers that were used for nydus worms. Only the raven is a New and exciting addition and we will need to see its interaction with neural parasite to see if it will continue to be a trend. Protoss definitely had a lot more variations with mass archon or mass robo styles or with sprinkling in some carriers or tempests but I can understand why you feel that way since we always see maxpax/hero games where its just mostly blink stalkers.

I used microbial shroud recently when I was caught off guard by carriers and didnt have time to tech into corrupters. I simply placed 2 shrouds to cover my hydra army and they took an insanely efficient fight... the toss should've recalled out the moment he saw that, or at least try to run away but I guess he underestimated the power of this ability

It makes a tiny bit more sense against protoss, I think I might have even used it once with hydra against carriers, though simply funging the interceptors allows the hydra to actually track them, and hydra easily focus down slow ass naked carrier\tempest or something. So basically, a backdoor nerf to the Golden Armada, a reason for terrans to make a stinking raven. Haven't played very recently, I dunno what effect it may have on pheonix, too little, to late if anything.

The problem isn't the baneling nerf. The problem is that terran bio with medivacs is too strong. The other races have to rely too heavily on splash damage

Well, baneling *is* splash damage. The problem is that if it’s sniped by the marines, it’s zero damage. The -5 HP makes them easier to snipe, so it’s easier to negate the splash

the answer is damage with shroud then armor with anti armor (90*0.5)-3=42 damage (90 *0.5)-(3-2) = 44 damage

They finally nerfed Serral to the point of competition.

I'll be honest, I don't think I have seen Maru win a match since he lost Katowice last year, and as a Maru stan, this video made my day

The funny thing is that Microbial Shroud is a far better ability in Brood War because it effects ALL ranged units not just air, and the way it works is that ranged attacks miss those under the Shroud. So if a Microbial Shroud makes it into a Terrans base the game is a good as over.

I've said for a long time that Terran has the ability to match zerg macro early game and that they don't have to harass/pressure early to get into a good mid-game position. And these games prove it. Terran finished his third CC well before the zerg finished his third hatch, even if the Terran didn't take the third base before the zerg. This gave the Terran more SCV production and additional mules, allowing them to macro up just as quickly as the zerg, but much safer because his units were at home to defend. Seems Terrans are finally catching on that they can macro just as well as zergs.

exacpet zerg unit are way less cost efficient that terrian units so if zerg and any other race are going even in macro that really means that the zerg is really far behind from the start of the game.

the new meta of Liberators in and Thors out in late game was initially started by Maru in his recent matchup with Serral a month ago, and Clem exploits it even more with his widow mines, just my noob observation on how to best Zerg these days

he is forced to mix it up cuz blizzard nerfed any conventional way a zerg can win. it was like when everyone avoided the ultras cuz they were ass. they are still ass but compared to the broodlord nerf it makes it less of a glaringly obvious choice.

@@sage4670 Byun has been playing at a historic low over the past 6 months. Terran’s biggest changes with the last patch were the cyclone rework, interference matrix, and a slight nerf to EMPs, and a nerf to snipe that has had largely little impact as the units that snipe would be used to counter (lurkers, ultras) are already countered by liberators. Zerg got double nerfs to banelings, a range reduction to fungal, broodling lifespan reductions, an abduction nerf, and a nerf to lurker mobility. Terran lost nothing in regards to splash damage, and now every time we see Zerg players try to kill Terran before the lategame while Terran has the most generous comeback capabilities thanks to Orbital commands and a swiss army knife combat caster that counters every lategame zerg unit. If Zerg are taking the W’s, it is in spite of the balance tweaks.

Baneling health nerf really sucks even Serral can figure it out 😅

Definitely coping imo. In this tournament Zergs went 7-3 in series against Terrans in the group stages. Not gonna spoil it further but either check the vods or liquipedia. There are some interesting results to say the least

I have noticed when terran goes mass libs and zerg doesn't go corruptors, zerg looses.

To properly fight Zergs, you just gotta be more zergy and just mass units.

I understand that the 4M ball (marines, marauders, medivacs and mines) is very efficient and potent, but I wish some pro Terran would figure out a new tactic, because it feels like a crutch.

@@inmanis2924 there is already one terran spot (maru), one protoss spot (hero). Last group matches are on monday: tvt, pvp, and zvt. Regardless of what happens, there is not a single scenario where zergs are lagging behind the other races in playoff representation

Bane nerfed has terrans even more oppressive, they were lazy with compositions and now it's even worst, no need to split against banes unless you dealing with a massive amount

Mass spellcasters have never resulted in fun gameplay. In WoL, it was Mass Infestors; recently, Protoss would mass Disruptors. Mass Ghosts is still a thing, because they're one of the most supply-efficient units in the game. It's time to nerf Ghosts from 2 to 3 Supply.

wtf is that single player testing mode...for as long as SC has existed, when I want to test something I try to play against an easy AI and I try to manufacture the scenario I want to test. I think I may have been doing things the hard way...

That is cool, the map editor I believe, allows the construction of such scenarios. Being lazy, I was accustomed to testing my unit out against defenseless enemy unit and structures after my opponent capitulated (still took like 32 fungs to kill carriers after the first nerf, wol, and they never stacked), till bitches would outright scream at me about sniping their ladder points.

Fungal nerf was balanced. Baneling -5HP was too much. The widow mine buff was atrocious, it should have been a nerf

You should have been the one frowning fungle growth instead of the infester

As an avid Orc main since brood war, Fungal should either slow or damage but not both.

All t3 zerg die in the air of any other race, plus ghosts. The only air units are coraptors, but they take up too much of the limit and are expensive. This is the key. The Zergs suck and have never been imba.
