You can see soul just in awe with that baneling burst and all of a sudden he seemed to have lost his concentration. Dropping on top of zerglings and such. Also note how Elazer immediately sent the zerglings into soul's base right after the burst, knowing that soul is distracted.

Lowko, I don't know if you already have seen (probably yes), but the 1st match of Dark vs Serral on the global finals was beautiful, muta and lings vs corruptos and roaches. I still don't know the magic Serral pulled off on that game... It would be interesting if you could cast it and explain what Serral did that made possible for (on my vision) weaker units to win against stronger ones.

​@@Rath_9 It was as insane as the last game he played against Stats. He was trading the best he could to create a large economic difference, and, at the same time, wearing out it's opponent by not giving him any big advantages. But I have to agree with you, it was a tense and insane game, but not as out of the world as trading zerlings/mutas against roaches/corruptors and winning. I mean, theoretically, both units Dark had were the "counters" (strong vs) the units Serral had, even through their upgrades were behind, and even when considering the micro both of them had, they should be able to win against Serral's ones, but they didn't. I watched the game live, so I probably missed a lot on what Serral was doing. I would have to watch the match again to better understand what happened, but I don't know that much about the game (I'm just a gold league zerg) and I don't know were I could download the replay of the match, that is why I asked Lowko if he could cast and explain it for us.

Adriano Silva dark over extended his first set of corrupters. The thing is mass muralist will do better than mass corrupter due to the splash from muralist. Prior to some critical mass mutualisks the corrupters should have the advantage. Another difference is the mutas were able to pick off roaches while the corrupters had no way to contribute to the ground fight

Adriano Silva Also don’t forget serral doesn’t take bad engagements unless forced and he snipes stragglers whenever safely possible to gain a better air superiority

@@Rath_9 Yes, I considered the part were mutas would help pick roaches and, because of their speed, would allow him to snipe some units here and there, allowing him to even take some drones. I don't remember seeing Dark extend that much, but I guess I was distracted when watching. Still, in the first engagements by dark, the numbers of mutas and corruptors was somewhat close, but Serral managed to win. Maybe due to his micro, maybe due to the mutas splash damage, as you said, probably both, but that is still a little beyond what my eyes of a casual player can see. I probably miscalculated the damage mutas would do in that situation, thanks for mentioning that, it helped me understand it a little better. I try to go back and watch the match again, thanks.

really love Elazer's play i think it worth.(2:38) because the marine haven't stat for a lot. And shut down those barrack. 12:03 i think elazer got the base surrounded, suv could not touch it, but dun know why he move the zerging. is it worth? elazer got the economic grow into 5 base(3800 production), i believe that is not much losses, he can make bunch of zerging very quick.

Lowko, will you talk about Serral vs STATS grand finals? I'm not sure when exactly it happened, but they released match about a day ago. Just was curious to hear your thoughts on that.

I build a barracks for every command center same with every type of production building. I tech up very quickly. In 10 minutes I've maxed all available techs so I just build a variety of units. Building a single mass of units that functions as a Jack-of-all-trades while replacing each unit lost. I build bunkers to defend the entrances to my bases. Then I build some turrets to remove stragglers that find my bases. Then use the single mass of units to deplete my opponent's unit production facilities then I start removing the buildings... unless they realize what I'm doing... then after the production facilities are destroyed inside a base I kill all surrounding hostile units then exterminate the main structure then retreat for minimal repair and repeat in second base systemically reducing available production until depletion of available resources. A full scale war of attrition. Run on a systemic depletion advance. Only the AI has survived it. And only once before I change up unit types and numbers. Players have forfeit games to me. I ignore buildings with ZERO strategic value at time.

All he had to do was split better early on. He ate a lot of unnecessary banelings. Also, should have fought on even supply.

While this game was fun, I believe it is a big mistake to make Zerg T3 units as unattractive as they are now. Since the early days of Starcraft 1 there was the "fast tech against fast exe" meta. Warcraft 3 made this even more interesting. Now players, especially zerg-players, get punished for teching up fast. One way of winning the game eliminated, makes for less interesting games in the long run. No matter how well executed: seeing the same again and again and then again becomes boring, extremly so

This is ALOT better than Wings of Liberty now since Zerg has blinding cloud + parasitic bomb to pretty much instantly win an engagement like protoss or mass tank terrans, Zerg can finally punish heavily on those who mis-positioned their army, which is alot better than before. Starcraft 2 is all about compositions and Zerg finally have late game options which is really nice. Ultralisks still suck ass though.

@@luiousy7329 broodlords and ultras should be the ultimative units of Zerg. Just like carriers and collossi are for Protoss or battlecruisers and goliaths for Terran. While the last two got huge (and much needed) buffs to make them better and Protoss high end units are just fine, Zerg ultimate just can not compete. The true ultimate unit for all races is a spellcaster. Ghosts for Terran (hard counters everything in the game!). High Templar for Protoss and for Zerg the Viper. This could be fine, if the strongest combi would be the spellcaster plus the two t3 units. But for Zerg Hydralisks (t2) plus viper remains strongest, for Terran arguably Ghosts and Marines(t1!) are strongest. Only Protoss has a high tech deathball. That *SUCKS!* And it has become worse since Ultras and Broodlords are easier hardcountered then ever. In my opinion the balance of the races is better than ever, but the meta is worse than ever. Zerg is forced to massexpand and throw away units, Protoss is becoming a cheese/end game race (midgame of Protoss feels non existant) and Terran is a "massproduce everything with a M"-race. Only thing that keeps the game running for me is that players are becoming better and better and there is no "i beat them all" any more. Serral, Maru, Rogue are so close together that nobody could tell who wins. And sometimes there is a Stats or a Special or even a Reynor (or my personal favourite Hero) to win it even against them.

Mmm idk, ultras suck and probably they need a buff, but broods are balanced in my opinion, sure ghosts are quite effective but zerg has fungal+banelings and a good connection with the ghosts probably ends the game, not to mention that broods have quite a long range and it's hard for a terran to engage with ghosts. Vs toss broods are balanced aswell (in my opinion), corruptors+vipers can take care of sky toss just fine (see the very last game of Serral Vs Stats) and corruptors have quite a field day on toss ground army. I would make ultras a little more expensive but beefier.

@@marcomassella2186I never said Zerg has no options. Or ghost are easy to pull of :D I see your point there and it is a valid one. But for me personally the most exiting games are when TLO pulls of a strategy so far of from the usual meta that it should fail. Or HerO does one of his suprise moves and is winnig not because of macro but because of his incredible control. Or any player seems to be rightfully defeated and has a big comeback . Carefully laid of traps, surgical strikes, epic battles, games that turn around. But "new" Starcraft is "just a numbers game " in most of the cases. A numbers game with the same units used all the time. For Zerg, Hydralisks are by far the most used endgame-unit. Combine them with roaches+vipers or lings+banes or even broodlords or ultras - the backbone is the hydra. Blizzard themselves see a problem here (according to the last patchnotes).

@@oldoneeye7516 oh yeah competitive/high level games are just a far cry from lower level games... If everybody was playing at diamond and above level the balance would be way better. And yeah up to Plat it's pretty much only a number game, I would feel pitty confident about going pure mass marines/lings/zelots and do a giant attack 7 minutes into the game in silver league 😊
