MiniDisk didn't catch on because Sony made it proprietary and with very finnicky software to put your songs on. Also, expensive compared to audio cassettes and MP3 players were just getting started.

I'm Commander Shepard, and this is my favorite comment to make for the algorithm. Also mini-discs mostly failed due to record labels not using the format, not to mention the high cost of the equipment and the mini-discs themselves, just wasn't worth it.

First game was a perfect way to play z, many blitzs with 2/3 the map

My uncle spent months recording his vinyl records onto minidisks... oh the wasted time.

btw the story of the Mini Disc is a very convoluted one. It features big music labels, CD-rental in Japan and huge intercontinental legal battles, it's a hot mess after all. But interesting nevertheless.

You really wan´t the answer why minidisc sucked at the time i try to keep it short. Simple Reason Copy Protection and Price. An CD Rom has by Deffinition in Specs no Copy Protection Minidisc has. Not even was an Minidisc minimum around 1.5 Times more expensive than an CD at that time you Most likely had an CD Rom Drive anyways in your PC at that time while you in any given Moment needed the Minidisc Player or Minidisc Drive in your PC on Top and if you used PC you even needed Software because than we are at Point one Copy Protection again. Later on you even had the Problem that CD got Doblelayer and improved so from 700 MB Space up to 8.5 GB until that Point CD Data and MD Data was relative the same MD 650 MB CD 700 MB but CD much cheaper per Medium than MD but at the Moment CD got Doublelayer and even later on Rewritable MD didn´t make sense anymore. And nope even mp3 was earlier there tthan MD so anyone had his HDD and CD Spindels as mp3 Collection. Fast Forward a couple of years comes than the Final Blow with the Start of Napster where everyone startet Sharing Music and a bit later Videos like crazy and needed cheap Data Storage but from there on you should be Old enough for the Rest of the Story because you watched for sure this ugly 480P Streams with High Level Games of Starcraft One or Warcraft 3 and played Secretly CS 1.0
