    What Ahsoka was feeling in that moment: Anakin turning into Vader and all those Jedi dying, it was like the Force itself was screaming in pain. It’s so crazy to think that while all of this is going down Vader is massacring the Temple and Cal and Kanan are loosing their masters and are desperately trying to escape. Also, with Ahsoka trying to save Rex. Everything that makes Ahsoka who she is: her fearlessness, her determination, her compassion and her willingness not to give up on people, she got that all from Anakin.

    Regarding whether or not the Jedi committed treason, one of my all time favorite Palpatine lines is one that never even made it into the movies, but is included in the novelization when Mace comes to arrest him in his office. Palpatine asks him what crime specifically they're arresting him for, Mace accuses him of being a Sith, to which Palpatine basically replies "Okay, sure. And if you read the Constitution of the Republic, you'll notice that it provides all its citizens with freedom of religion, so what exactly is your point?" I mean it's a slightly hollow point since he was a Sith and ALSO he was secretly conspiring with the enemy during wartime, so he definitely still committed a crime even in the eyes of Republic Law, but still, I love seeing how Palpatine sort of "Lawful Evil"s his way out of the initial accusation. Cause he's right, really, it's not expressly illegal for him to be Sith, and the Jedi are basically a militarized cult coming to arrest the democratically elected Head of State just for practicing a different religion.

  • @e115mastery

    @e115mastery

    3 жыл бұрын

    Honestly it wouldn't surprise me if it WAS illegal to be a sith, what with their history of conflict against the republic and the jedi more specifically. Many of the dark side practices and beliefs are founded on the pain and suffering of others for your own selfish gains, so it wouldn't be that shocking to find that being a follower/practicer of sith techniques would be a crime under republic law. I'm probably overthinking this, but perhaps it was a crime in the earlier days of the republic, but due to the sith being gone for such a long period of time it might've disappeared from the law or just covertly removed by sith sympathisers over time. Like "witchcraft" in England a few centuries ago, for instance.

    Thats what i have always loved about Sidius is how he manipulates people. I love how Disney (almost) kind of accidently portrayed him as someone who is not very skilled or powerful(well for a Sith i mean. Its like in legends how unless you were trained to kill Sith you wouldnt even if you were a Jedi unless you were very exceptional or got very lucky) he is just someone who is very good at playing every side at once. And then Rise of Skywalker came around and he was a dumbass old man with a self destructive and heavily flawed plan who is also the most powerful person to ever live for some reason. Make up your fucking mind Disney. And thats as someone who likes the movie and thinks its pretty good. Granted unlike the other two i have only watched it once and didnt watch anything pointing out its flaws so yeah...

    @@Zangelin I mean a republic law would be able to distinguish between jedi and sith given the fact that the jedi and republic would've been working together for 1000 years of peace when the prequels were set. Although both are force-related groups, their practices and motives differ significantly enough for their to be recognisable differences between the two. At their core the sith seek power and control whereas the Jedi are dedicated to peace and justice.

    I loved the little detail they added by showing rex bumping his head. Shows us that the chips aren’t just a piece of tech embedded in the brain that can be destroyed by physical trauma but it’s actually coded into their DNA. Rex being the only known clone to resist even momentarily shows us the chips were like infections to the body (data codes downloading) and that knowledge (thanks to fives) alone was enough to save ahsoka and rex.

    This episode always gets me. Like I’m always sad whenever Order 66 goes down, but Rex hesitating and crying always just breaks me. He and Anakin and Ahsoka were such good friends; they were practically family. And all the other clone and Jedi partnerships seemed just like business associates. You never got the sense that any other Jedi were as attached to their clones as Anakin, Ahsoka, and the 501st. Ugh. Good stuff.

    My personal theory on rex “resisting” is that Rex got to look Ashoka in the eye, without his helmet on. Every other order 66 betrayal happened from a distance. Or from behind. I think looking Ashoka in the eye as he betrayed her broke him long enough to resist.

    Yoda: “To a dark place this line of thought will take us. Great care we must take.” I think if Windu defeated/captured/killed Palpatine the transition of power wouldn’t go smooth. The show shows that people have lost fate in the Jedi. I think that if this would happen, the outcome would be almost similair to what we got to see.

    Ahsoka's attachment to Rex: saves them. They both go on to help the Rebellion. Luke's attachment to his father: saves Anakin. Anakin's attachment to his son (his and Padmé's baby! That he wanted! And thought he lost!): Saves Luke, makes him destroy the emperor. Galaxy saved. Even Kylo Ren's attachment to his parents: redeem him. Save Rey. Destroy Palpatine again. Anyways. Attachments were never the problem. It was just the unhealthy obssessive ones ("shadow of greed"), which Anakin developed because of trauma.

  • @Klffsj

    Yeah, but I think "Anakin's Dark Deeds" fits the situation better. If I remember correctly, "Anakin's Betrayal" plays during Anakin's turn to the dark side, and "Anakin's Dark Deeds" plays during the montage of Order 66, when we see the moment the clones get the orders, correct? If so, then I'd say that it's definitely more fitting, in that it lines up with the movie better.

    I agree from a timeline perspective, but Anakin's Dark Deeds definitely fits the action of the scene better (and still thematically fits a bit as it's playing over Anakin slaughtering the Separatists, and Order 66 is still one of his 'dark deeds'). Both of them are probably in my top 5-10 John Williams pieces though so I was so thrilled to hear it either way.
