Star Wars Jedi: Survivor | Day One VS Patch 3.5 | Performance Mode | Xbox Series X | 60 FPS

Ойындар

A short gameplay comparison of Star Wars Jedi: Survivor. Comparing the frame rate of the day one patch to the recently released 1.0.0.5 (3.5) update for Xbox Series X.
The game is running in performance mode on Xbox Series X.
Additional visual features such as Motion Blur, Film Grain and Chromatic Aberration are turned off to get the most accurate results possible.
The resolution in performance mode runs at a maximum of 864p (1536×864) native resolution with a minimum of 648p (1152×648). The resolution is then upsampled to 1440p using AMD's FSR 2.1.
The developers, Respawn Entertainment released a patch for consoles on the 2nd May 2023 with various fixes and performance improvements for both Xbox Series X and PS5. Sadly, as far as the performance mode is concerned, the frame rate is relatively equal to, and is some cases actually worse than that of the performance pre patch. Although the differences are marginal at best.
Across my play time I sampled approximately 18,000 frames with the average and minimum values below.
Day One Patch
Average Frame Rate: 56.35fps
Minimum Frame Rate: 39.4fps
Patch 1.0.0.5 (3.5)
Average Frame Rate: 55.42fps
Minimum Frame Rate: 40fps
The frame rate analysis is performed as accurately as possible, ensuring that the source capture is completely lossless

This is a re-upload of my original video, to those who commented previously please accept my apologies. There were just a couple of tweaks I needed to make that couldn't be done to a high enough standard using the KZread editor. Just essentially reposting the comment I made on the previous video. I appreciate that my results may not reflect what you have seen from other creators regarding the performance of the new patch. I can't really comment on the results of others and why they may be different. What I can say, is that due to the nature of the game and the major prevalence of screen tearing, combined with asset loading/traversal stutter and upsampling from such a low resolution in performance mode, obtaining an accurate frame rate reading is quite challenging and even during my own testing found it quite common to get different results when playing through the same section multiple times. I would also like to note that the both clips were captured with the exact same settings (lossless) and both were also analyzed with the exact same settings. Speaking to the testing I have done, I have not found it to be the case that the new patch brings with it any substantial performance improvements, if anything the performance is relatively the same regarding the averages and ever so slightly worse than pre patch. I believe Tom Morgan of Digital Foundry tweeted something similar regarding a quick test he did of the PS5 version.

Thanks for the info I have the game downloaded since launch but I decided to wait on starting it up because of the whole performance just to make sure I have a good experience from the start. So I'm practically just waiting for someone saying that it is good to go just fire it up and you should have a good experience kind of message. So from what I can tell from your video is that it has been improved or do you think it's good to go at this point, and I should start enjoying it this weekend? And if you think it needs a little bit of wait I will be fine by that.

No problem at all. Even though it really frustrates me to do it, I have just started a proper playthrough using the quality 30fps mode with motion blur turned on. It's pretty solid, stays at 30fps most of the time and really does look extremely good visually. I definitely plan on another playthrough if they ever get the performance where it ideally needs to be in the 60fps mode. Obviously the other issue is that it's having to upsample from such a low resolution that even if they do manage to increase performance its not great to look at, especially in motion due to the artifacting from FSR which is really working hard to give it at least some level of passable image quality, It's a massive ask though. It very much depends if you want to play at 30fps? At the moment, I would hold off from playing the 60fps mode, the image quality, performance, and screen tearing are just a little too intrusive I would say. I would like to think that Respawn are going to be pretty on point with their patching schedule, but difficult to say when the next one may land.

@@gamingletloose Cheers for the reply, I think I'm gonna hold it off until the next few patches because I have faith in respawned and will give them a chance because fallen order was such an amazing experience and I think they want this to succeed as well. Once I hear from most people that it is at a satisfactory state I will start enjoying it, so I hope you have a good time with it as it goes.

Game is still unplayable on performance mode. And I am not playing 30fps on a next gen console and a $70 game. Please fix this EA, or wait with release until you are ready
