well yea, bespin was a super early outcast saber map while tavion was the final end boss for academy so by then you'd be fully powered :)

I like how Desann had his own unique lightsaber model and fighting style. You can unlock both with cheats, even in Jedi Academy.

His lightsaber is unique, but not his style. He uses a hybridized version of Juyo and Djem So. But hybridizing styles was common in the New Jedi Order as Luke introduced it to "modernize" lightsaber combat and make it more unpredictable to the Imperial Remnants.

@@vetarlittorf1807 His heavy style is unique. No one but Desann fights with this animation. Its heavy animation is equivalent to the quick style animations, while it deals damage like a full heavy. So his style is really unique and we are talking about the game, no need to go into Lore.

He didn’t even know what Djem so WAS. Nobody really did until the 7 classic forms were fully rediscovered in 24ABY. Luke didn’t have actual training in Djem so; only Shii Cho and Ataru from Kenobi & Yoda respectively. He mirrored his father’s Djem So technique against him, but that’s it. His own form ended up being a hybrid between forms 3/4/5. And the strong/medium/fast styles…. Desann utilized strong style, and just used a one-handed grip a lot of the time. That’s it. He had no clue what Djem so even was. He did not have nearly advanced enough bladework to be Djem so; which is different from Strong style to begin with. All 3 NJO forms are watered down versions not nearly as good as the 7 classic forms. They were crafted by Luke & Kyle because they wanted to have options to train their students in instead just training all of them in the “3 Rings” Kam Solusar crafted earlier. So they made the strong/medium/fast styles. But once the 7 classic forms were rediscovered just before the Vong war, most Jedi went into mastering those. Only some Jedi continued utilizing the 3 NJO styles. Like Jaden Korr & Jaina with medium, Corran & Mara with fast, Kyle with strong, etc. That’s about it. And they all still mastered classic forms as well. Mara & Corran 4, Kyle 1, 4, & 5, etc…. The point is, they’re superior to the 3 NJO forms in every way.

He doesn’t have a “unique style” at all. He just utilizes strong style. With a one-handed grip a lot of the time because of his large stature. That’s it. It’s literally stated as much.

Interesting facts - the only ones who use the same lightsaber hilt as Desann are the rebornmasters at "Jedi Academy".And only the hilt. Their blades are larger than those of other characters, but smaller and thinner than Desann's. As such, Desann's sword is the longest and thickest in "Jedi Outcast" and "Jedi Academy".Due to this, his sword deals the most damage, and also due to the unique fighting style of Desann, it can really be considered the strongest NPC damage dealer. And yes, among all the NPC in the "Jedi Academy", he does seem to be the more problematic one. Especially if you enter into saber lock with him. Desann can also survive falling from a height where other NPC die. Also in some places NPC Desann can jump higher than other NPC.Also just like shadowtroopers, his sound files are missing in the files, so Desann does not make any sounds at the "Jedi Academy") Also, a big guy like Desann is able to push and pull with the Force very successfully strong NPC such as Luke and Kyle.

hm you seem to be very obsessed with saber thiccness uwu actually we learned and confirmed long ago that the saber has nothing to do with the damage, the reason desann had more power is the secret 4th saber style only he had which you can unlock with cheats.. evidence? for one you can play as desann in both with the console commands and wont be doing any better than default until you switch to the secret stance

Star Wars Jedi Knight 2 Jedi Outcast was such a fun and amazing Star Wars game on Pc and it is my favorite Star Wars game on Pc 🙂😁. I miss my teenage years 🙂. The boss fights were challenging but fun and especially Tavion and Desann 🙂

I still remember the secret way you could defeat Desaan without fighting him. Discovered it by accident but felt too "deliberate" to be just a bug/glitch with how you can crush Desann via one of the four pillars around the arena. Even more so since they have destruction physis, meaning they were made to be destroyed. Tavion, I always just found it fun to hop onto the top of the shuttle and push her so far into the air she would trigger the death-Pitt animation and be defeated that way. :3 That said, they are a lot more fun to beat legit than using an exploit on one and a "side method" for the other.

I remember how you can push first reborn when he jumps and he dies of fall damage. Same thing accidentally happened with Tavion. I remember destroying admirals shield generator with alr fire grenade. And cherry on top, offed Desann with pillar.

You can also activate the beam in the center of the arena which gives you temporary invincibility...if having that easier way of taking out Desann is not enough. :P

Also, you can shoot in the red thing on Fyer's neck and he will not being able to use the shields anymore. But c'mon! Who uses the blasters when you can just cut off his neck with lightsaber?

TBH the trial to get the light saber and finding Reelo were one of the toughest parts in this game when I was a teenager.

i play both academy and outcast on master and it adds such a huge element i never knew.. actually having to take cover to avoid dying to blaster shots and using strategy to plan attacks :) pc only

Just realized the guy who dies Dessan's voice is the guy who voices the Chaos side in Dow2.

I play this game couple of time back in those days never get bored. And over the years I played many star wars game but checking this back now, every dialog sound so hilarious even Kyle Katarn is really savage 🤣🤣🤣

Probably late, but yeah you can do that but you gotta time it exactly right or get really lucky. One time he was standing in the corner and he kept shooting force lightning at me I kept avoiding it but the pillar couldn't take it and it fell on him and crushed him😂

I never played the story of this game. I would play online on MSN Gaming zone and duel other players and was so much fun. Then later on i noticed alot of players was not playing it anymore and i found out cause star wars galaxies mmo just came out and everyone was playing that. Swg was my 1st mmo and it made me become a star wars nerd. I played swg and took me over a year to unlock my jedi but once i did i was so powerfull. I played swg till sony took over and turned it into a world of warcraft clone.

ah yes the old "update" that ruined star wars galaxies.. man you musta been on it a ton because there was no jedi path in public knowledge.. people had to use crazy amounts of research to figure out how to get it, i watched a 15 min video on the insane steps needed.. when i came to galaxies it was empty and just had a few korean bots trying to shill websites on auto spam.. shame..

Killing such powerful Dark Jedi such as Jerec and Desann? Goddamn Kyle was such a badass post ROTJ. It's a shame he was out aside, only appearing here and there in future novels. I know Jaden had himself a couple novels, I only wish his master received his own trilogy.

The first Reborn was a miniboss I guess. He's scripted to resist all controlling effects like Push and Pull so you can't even cheese him when he's using the vents to cross the gap to you
