To clarify, no the Emperor and Vader are not Jedi, but they can use the Force. Jedi is actually a group of people who follow specific teachings about the Force. Teachings that the Emperor and Vader "disagree" with (to put it mildly). You'll find out more about them in the prequels.

indeed it is a cliff hanger. can you imagine what it was like for us in 1980 that had to wait for 3 years to find stuff out?

Originally, Han WAS going to say "I love you to" to Leia just before being frozen, but both the Director and Harrison Ford hated the line "I love you to" because they felt it was too out of character for Han. So eventually, they had him just say "I know".

About half-a-dozen things in the first 20-minutes would have been spoiled had Kim Watched the prequels first.

Darth Vader was so legitimately upset when Luke got away that he forgot to choke out the officers who let it happen. That's brilliant writing

Mark Hamill was in a bad car accident between the first movie and this one and smashed up his face pretty good. It has never been confirmed but the rumor is they added the scene with the Wampa attacking Luke to explain why his face looked a little different. If you compare his face to the first movie you can see the difference. It is not huge but definitely is noticeable.

It’s not just a cliffhanger, it is THE CLIFFHANGER! We had to wait 3 years to get these questions answered when I was a kid. It was the source of many schoolyard recess arguments back in the 80s.

If you wanna watch the sequels, watch them. They get a lot of hate. I have my own criticisms that can't be discussed here. But. When the prequels came out they also received soooo much hate and were called terrible and they ruined the franchise etc etc. Whatever. These days so many people love them. In a decade, all the kids who grew up with the sequels will start to become the majority as they introduce their kids and so on, they'll just be accepted as part of the world. I hope you decide to watch the shows as well, but i know that's a lot of content so no pressure there hahaha welcome to star wars, hope you enjoy this wild ride!

When you do get to the sequels, please go into them with an open mind and don’t let anyone in the comments pressure you to feel one way or the other about them

Hoth was filmed largely on a glacier in Norway. When a blizzard set in, the shot of Luke collapsing in the snow was filmed from the front doorway of their hotel - visibility during the storm was that poor so they got away with it.

I’m barely 10 minutes in, and I’m so impressed with how analytical you are with this movie. You’re very quick to pick up in the fact that Leia is the kind of character that would struggle to be open about her feelings, she’s young and running a rebellion, relationships are probably not in her wheelhouse. Same thing with Han being irritated with her, but then also being stressed about his bounty, then he hears about Luke, and gets more stressed.

The 'look' Luke and Han shared at the start: just Big Brother seeing his little sibling heading off on his own. Without having to spell it out, you can tell they really care for each other.

I've watched a lot of Star Wars reactions but you... you are something special. I haven't had this much fun watching a reaction in a long time. Your way of doing this is very good. I so look forward to watch your reaction to episode 6.
