Only this one is terrible, and it's still the kind of terrible that appeals to little kids so it's not all bad. Episode 2 isn't so bad, it's solidly mediocre. Episode 3 is an actual decent movie. Of course it would never become a hit if the series debuted in 1999 with this. It definitely depends on the original series to exist. But it's watchable and has some cool moments. If the original series is the early seasons of Game of Thrones, then the prequels are seasons 6-7 and the new trilogy is the final GoT season.

“Always two there are, no more, no less.“ This is the sith Rule of Two. There used to be lots of sith but they kept backstabbing each other for power. Darth Bane implemented the rule, only 2 at a time. A master to hold the power, and apprentice to crave it. The apprentice eventually kills their master, or takes their place if they die by other means, and takes an apprentice of their own.

It's also worth noting that the Rule of Two is more of a Sith Philosophy than unbreakable law. Some followed it whilst others didn't and their reasons for doing either varied widely. One of the more interesting things, yet to be touched on in the films, is just how many different interpretations of how the force existed and how two individuals, who both called themselves Jedi/Sith could have very different and conflicting ideas of how the force is actually supposed to work.

Honestly, if Qui-Gon had survived, Anakin would've become a fully-realized Chosen One. Even the idiots at Disney said that Anakin wouldn't have gone to the Dark Side if Qui-Gon survived. He probably would've trained Anakin, regardless of the Council's decision, even if it meant he wouldn't be a member of the Order anymore.

But unlike the Jedi, he didn't treat it as some sort of problem. For him, balance was the most important thing. Not complete Light or Darkness. He wouldn't have Anakin ignore his Darkness, but instead understand it and own it like he would the Light. One failed apprentice does not mean Qui-Gon would fail again.

Qui-Gon always seemed more "gray Jedi" to me, so I get what you mean. Anakin's passionate, tapping in to both sides would seem the most logical. Instead Anakin was made a sheltered kid with a helicopter parent who later in life dives off the deep-end. Anakin was Lindsay Lohan. But in all seriousness, I agree. It's nigh nonsensical to be only "black" or "white" in a world that's a myriad of grays to realize the full picture. @@99thJediWarrior

  • @99thJediWarrior

@@Kaspar.C0LD True. Though the Gray Jedi thing where it concerns Qui-Gon, he was considered Gray because of his views on the Jedi and the Council. Keep in mind that he put the Force over everything, even the Republic, the Jedi Council, and even the Jedi Code. He was often at odds with the Council because of his mindset. He's the Jedi that Anakin was meant to become - one that served the Force, not the Council or the Republic.

@@joevictor53 There's nothing wrong with watching it in release order, but imo chronological is better. Basically what would happen is that Lucas would come up with an idea while making season 3, but the idea had to do with something that happened in season 1. So he'd just have Filoni make the episode anyway and trust that the audience would know that it happened earlier in the timeline. The reason for the senate room scene was to show how the galactic republic had lost faith in the current chancellor, and in doing so showed the beginning of Palpatine's rise to complete control.

I'm with Suraj, I have really fond memories of this movie and this particular time because of not only my age back then but all the great Star Wars games! Podracer Revenge, Jedi Master Battles, and the original Battlefront were so fun! As an adult, I love this movie as a feel-good flick. I'm not as critical as I might have been during my teenage years.

Gosh, after 20 years, I still like this film so much. I had fun watching the highlights with you guys. Keep the series please. P.S.: now that I notice that Jar jar is a mix of Domino and Clumsy lol. May the force be with you \o/
